Job Summary The Cost Manager will be responsible for managing and optimizing cost accounting processes within a global manufacturing environment. The role will oversee product costing, cost monitoring and analysis, budgeting and cost control, plant cost analysis, and SAP CO enhancements.
The role will also partner closely with the Global Sales, Operations, and Finance teams to support product pricing, customer profitability, margin improvement, cost efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives across subsidiaries.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Costing & Pricing
- Develop and maintain standard cost models for products across manufacturing sites.
- Collaborate with Production, Procurement, and R&D; teams for timely costing updates and new product costing.
- Support product pricing strategies and participate in pricing reviews based on cost structures and market data.
- Partner with Global Sales to align pricing decisions with cost structures and margin targets.
- Perform cost simulations for new products and changes in BOMs or processes.
- Support financial modelling for new projects, including payback and IRR calculations, and monitor payback on new CAPEX projects.
2. Sales Partnership & Margin Improvement
- Collaborate with Global Sales on pricing proposals and customer quotations.
- Conduct customer- and product-level profitability analysis.
- Recommend pricing adjustments based on cost movements, competitive positioning, and margin objectives.
- Lead margin improvement initiatives in coordination with Sales, Product Management, and Operations.
3. Cost Monitoring & Analysis
- Monitor and analyze variances between standard and actual costs.
- Identify key cost drivers and provide actionable insights to improve cost efficiency.
- Conduct profitability and margin analysis at SKU, customer, and business-unit levels.
- Evaluate inventory valuation and monitor manufacturing overhead absorption.
- Lead inventory verification and reporting.
- Analyze trends in variable and fixed costs and their impact on profitability.
- Release cost estimates for new products in SAP.
- Manage month-end closing activities in SAP.
4. Plant Cost Analysis
- Partner with Plant Management to monitor and analyze production and operational costs.
- Analyze direct and indirect manufacturing costs.
- Support CAPEX planning and cost-benefit analysis.
- Support the development and monitoring of manufacturing cost KPIs, including production efficiency, yield, and waste.
- Track Kaizen initiatives and cost-saving projects.
5. Budgeting & Forecasting
- Coordinate and consolidate the annual budget across group companies.
- Analyze budget variances, identify key reasons, and recommend corrective actions.
- Conduct business scenario analysis and prepare rolling forecasts on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and half-yearly basis.
- Develop cost center budgets and provide monthly Budget vs. Actual reports.
- Support setting of financial targets related to manufacturing and cost efficiency.
6. SAP CO & System Improvements
- Act as the SAP CO Key User,
with a focus on product costing, cost center accounting, and internal orders.
- Drive SAP enhancements and automation related to costing, reporting, and budgeting.
- Ensure accuracy and consistency of master data across subsidiaries, including Customer, Vendor, and Product master data.
- Train users on SAP CO functionalities and reporting tools.
7. Reporting & Business Partnering
- Prepare monthly cost control, profitability, and margin analysis reports for senior management.
- Develop cost reports, dashboards, and financial presentations.
- Create dashboards and performance reports using Power BI and similar analytics tools.
- Support internal and external audits related to cost accounting.
- Collaborate with global Finance teams to ensure consistent and standardized reporting.
Qualifications
- CMA is mandatory, along with a Bachelor's degree.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Cost Controlling or Management Accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment with international exposure.
- Strong knowledge of SAP CO, MM, and PP modules.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and Power BI or similar analytics tools.
- Robust analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information effectively across all levels.
- Fluent in English.

- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and work effectively in a matrix organization.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma will be an added advantage.
