Role Description The Copyeditor is a full time, on-site role based in Dehradun, responsible for ensuring the accuracy, clarity, and consistency of a wide range of digital and print content. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing and editing manuscripts, learning materials, and digital assets for grammar, punctuation, spelling, style, and formatting, while adhering to client-specific guidelines and style manuals. The Copyeditor will collaborate closely with writers, instructional designers, and production teams to resolve language issues and improve overall readability and flow.
The role also involves checking references, headings, and metadata, identifying factual or stylistic inconsistencies, and ensuring content is prepared for timely production. Maintaining high editorial standards, meeting project deadlines, and contributing to process improvements are key aspects of this position.
Qualifications
- Strong editorial skills in copyediting, proofreading, and line editing, with attention to detail and consistency.
- Ability to work with style guides (such as APA, Chicago, or client-specific styles) and apply formatting rules accurately.
- Excellent command of written English, including grammar, syntax, and vocabulary suitable for diverse audiences.
- Experience editing educational, technical, or digital learning content, preferably for global or corporate clients.
- Comfort with using editorial and productivity tools (e.g., MS Office, PDF editors, content management or workflow systems).
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet strict deadlines.
- Collaborative mindset and effective communication skills for working with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Education, or a related field; relevant editing certifications are a plus.
- Willingness to work on-site in Dehradun and adapt to evolving digital publishing and eLearning workflows.
