Consultant Neonatologist

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and compassionate Consultant Neonatologist to join our clinical team. The consultant will be responsible for providing specialized medical care to newborns, particularly premature, critically ill, and high-risk neonates, while ensuring high standards of patient safety and clinical care.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide comprehensive neonatal care to critically ill, premature, and high-risk newborns.
- Manage NICU admissions, emergencies, and neonatal complications.
- Conduct neonatal assessments and formulate appropriate treatment plans.
- Manage premature and low-birth-weight babies, including respiratory and nutritional support.
- Handle neonatal resuscitation and stabilization of critically ill newborns.
- Perform and supervise appropriate neonatal procedures as per clinical protocols.
- Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans when required.
- Coordinate with Obstetrics, Paediatrics, Nursing and other clinical departments.
- Counsel parents and family members regarding the baby's condition, treatment and prognosis.
- Maintain accurate and complete medical records and clinical documentation.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, infection-control standards and patient-safety protocols.




- Participate in clinical meetings, audits, quality-improvement initiatives and teaching activities.
- Provide guidance and supervision to junior doctors and NICU staff.

Qualifications
- MBBS with MD/DNB/DCH in Paediatrics/Neonatology or equivalent recognized qualification.
- Fellowship/advanced training in Neonatology will be preferred.
- Valid registration with the relevant Medical Council.
- Previous experience working in a NICU/Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is required.
- Experience in managing critically ill and premature neonates will be an advantage.
