Job Title: Machine Operator – Grinding & Conventional Machines

Department: Production

Reports To: Production Supervisor / Shop Floor In-charge

Location: Manufacturing Plant

Job Summary The Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining conventional machining equipment including Cylindrical Grinding, Surface Grinding, M1TR Milling, and Lathe machines to manufacture precision components as per engineering drawings, quality standards, and production schedules.

Key Responsibilities

Machine Operation

- Operate Cylindrical Grinding, Surface Grinding, M1TR Milling, and Centre Lathe machines.
- Perform machine setup, tooling, and workpiece clamping as per job requirements.
- Produce components according to engineering drawings, tolerances, and process sheets.
- Monitor machining parameters and ensure dimensional accuracy throughout production.

Quality Control

- Measure finished and in-process components using Vernier Calipers, Micrometers, Dial Indicators, Height Gauges, Bore Gauges, and other measuring instruments.
- Ensure components meet specified tolerances and quality standards.
- Report any dimensional deviations or quality issues to the supervisor immediately.

Preventive Maintenance

- Perform daily machine cleaning and lubrication.
- Conduct routine machine inspections and report abnormalities.
- Ensure coolant levels, grinding wheel condition,



and machine health are maintained.

Productivity

- Meet daily production targets while maintaining quality.
- Minimize machine downtime and material wastage.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.

Safety & Housekeeping

- Follow all safety guidelines and use prescribed PPE.
- Maintain 5S standards in the work area.
- Handle tools, fixtures, and measuring instruments carefully.
- Ensure safe handling of grinding wheels and rotating equipment.

Documentation

- Maintain production records and job cards.
- Record inspection results and machine downtime.
- Report machine breakdowns and maintenance requirements.

Required Skills

- Ability to read engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of GD&T; and machining tolerances.
- Knowledge of grinding wheel selection and dressing.
- Experience in precision machining.
- Good understanding of measuring instruments.
- Basic machine maintenance knowledge.
- Awareness of safety practices in machine shops.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Qualification

- ITI (Turner/Machinist/Fitter) or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- Certification in conventional machining is an added advantage.

Pay: ₹8,086.00 - ₹50,278.39 per month
