Role Overview

Backend Applications Engineer focused on building, operating, and improving large-scale distributed systems that power LinkedIn content and platform experiences. The role combines backend development, production engineering, operational excellence, automation, and system scalability. Candidates are expected to work on systems serving millions of users and handling high-volume traffic and content processing

Key Responsibilities

- Design, build, enhance, and maintain large-scale backend services and distributed systems.
- Develop new product features and capabilities.
- Debug, troubleshoot, and improve production systems at scale.
- Drive operational excellence through automation, tooling, and process improvements.
- Handle production incidents and participate in on-call support.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to convert business requirements into executable technical solutions and sprint plans.
- Work across multiple technologies and platforms to improve system reliability, resiliency, and performance

Required Skills & Experience

- 4-6 years of backend engineering experience.
- Experience building and operating distributed systems at scale.
- Strong production support and debugging experience.
- Experience handling high-throughput systems, large datasets, and scalable architectures.
- Ability to design resilient systems and solve real-world engineering problems.

Must-Have Skills

- Distributed Computing & Distributed Systems.
- Java and Python development experience.
- Kafka, event streaming, and streaming data processing.
- Microservices architecture and scalable backend systems.
- Kubernetes and Docker ecosystem knowledge.
- Production support, troubleshooting, and incident management.
- System design, scalability, resiliency,



and performance optimization.
- Experience building and supporting systems serving millions of users and handling large-scale workloads.

Preferred Background

- Engineers who have built and deployed multiple large-scale distributed applications.
- Experience working with content platforms, decisioning systems, or latency-sensitive applications.
- Exposure to large-scale inference or AI/LLM-powered systems.
- Experience working across multiple technologies rather than specializing in a single language.
- Cloud experience is beneficial but not mandatory.

Ideal Candidate Profile

- 5+ years of hands-on experience in distributed systems and microservices.
- Strong backend engineer who can both build new features and support production systems.
- Comfortable with Java, Python, Kafka, databases, and backend architecture.
- Proven experience handling large-scale systems, high QPS traffic, and complex production issues.
- Strong problem solver with operational excellence and automation mindset.
- Adaptable engineer who can learn and work across different technologies and platforms.
- Bengaluru-based candidate who can attend in-person interview drives and collaborate effectively in a large-scale engineering setting

Interview process: In-person Interview

- L1 – Technical + Coding Interview
- Focus on real-world backend engineering problems.
- Evaluates hands-on coding, problem-solving, system design, scalability, distributed systems, production support, and engineering best practices'
- in person, though the preference is for candidates to come to the office.
- L2 – Fitment round (45 mins)

Experience - Level III (5+ Yrs) No of position: 1 Headcount

- Shift – General shift Location - Bangalore (3 days WFO – Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday).
