We are looking for a Mid-Level Python Django Developer who can contribute to building scalable, secure, high-

performance backend systems and APIs that support our growing dairy technology platform.

Role Overview

As a Python Django Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, optimizing, testing, and maintaining backend applications and REST APIs.

You will work extensively with Python, Django, Django REST Framework, PostgreSQL, Redis, Celery, AWS, Docker,

Linux, and monitoring/observability tools.

The ideal candidate should be comfortable working on production systems, debugging real-world problems, optimizing database queries, designing APIs, and taking ownership of backend modules from development through deployment.

You will work closely with frontend developers, mobile developers, QA engineers, DevOps, and product teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Backend Development

 Design and develop scalable backend applications using Python and Django.

 Build modular, maintainable, and reusable Django applications.

 Develop business logic, workflows, authentication, authorization, and data-processing services.

 Build and maintain RESTful APIs using Django REST Framework (DRF).

 Work with API versioning, pagination, filtering, validation, throttling, and error handling.

 Integrate third-party APIs and external services.

 Write clean, readable, maintainable, and well-documented code.

- Python Development

 Strong understanding of modern Python programming practices.

 Use Python features including:

o Type hints o Dataclasses o Context managers o Decorators o Generators o Async/await o Exception handling o Packaging and dependency management

 Follow PEP 8, SOLID principles, clean-code practices, and appropriate design patterns.

 Understand synchronous vs. asynchronous programming and select the appropriate approach for production workloads.

- Database & PostgreSQL

 Design and maintain relational database schemas using PostgreSQL.

 Write efficient SQL queries and optimize database performance.

 Work extensively with Django ORM.

 Understand:

o Indexing o Query planning o Transactions o Constraints o Joins o Aggregations o Views o Database locking o Connection pooling

 Identify and resolve slow queries and database bottlenecks.

 Use tools such as EXPLAIN / EXPLAIN ANALYZE for query optimization.

 Handle database migrations safely in production environments.

- Background Processing & Caching

 Implement asynchronous/background jobs using Celery or equivalent task-processing systems.

 Work with Redis for caching, task queues, rate limiting, or temporary data.

 Design reliable retry, timeout, and failure-handling mechanisms for background jobs.

 Optimize application performance using appropriate caching strategies.

- AWS & Cloud Infrastructure

Work with AWS services such as:

 EC2

 RDS / PostgreSQL

 S3

 Lambda

 CloudWatch

 IAM

 VPC

 CloudFront / Load Balancer where applicable

Responsibilities include

 Deploying and maintaining backend applications.

 Managing application configuration and environment variables.

 Understanding AWS security and IAM principles.





 Monitoring application and infrastructure performance.

 Supporting scalable and highly available deployments.

- Linux & Production Systems

 Strong working knowledge of Linux environments.

 Deploy and manage applications using:

o systemd o Nginx o Gunicorn / Uvicorn o Shell scripting

 Troubleshoot CPU, memory, disk, networking, process, and application-level issues.

 Analyze production logs and diagnose service failures.

- Docker & CI/CD

 Containerize applications using Docker.

 Understand Docker images, containers, volumes, networks, and setting configuration.

 Work with CI/CD pipelines using tools such as:

o GitHub Actions o GitLab CI/CD o Jenkins o AWS CodePipeline

 Automate testing, builds, deployments, and release processes.

 Follow Git-based development workflows including feature branches, pull requests, code reviews, and release management.

- Monitoring & Observability

 Implement application and infrastructure monitoring.

 Work with:

o Prometheus o Grafana o AWS CloudWatch o Application logs

 Understand key observability concepts:

o Metrics o Logs o Traces o Alerts o Health checks

 Monitor API response time, error rates, database performance, background jobs, and system resources.

 Participate in production incident troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.

- Testing & Code Quality

 Write unit, integration, and API tests using pytest / Django testing frameworks.

 Use mocking and fixtures appropriately.

 Maintain good test coverage for critical business logic.

 Perform code reviews and provide constructive feedback.

 Use automated linting and formatting tools such as:

o Ruff o Black o isort o mypy / Pyright where applicable

- Security

 Follow secure development practices.

 Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms.

 Understand:

o JWT / token-based authentication o OAuth2 concepts o RBAC o CSRF o CORS o SQL injection prevention o XSS o Rate limiting o Secure API design o Secrets management

 Protect sensitive customer and business data.

 Follow OWASP best practices for web applications and APIs.

- AI-Assisted Development

 Comfortable using modern AI-assisted developer tools to improve productivity, debugging, documentation,

testing, and code quality.

 Ability to review, validate, test, and secure AI-generated code rather than relying on it blindly.

 Familiarity with AI/LLM APIs and integrations is a plus, particularly for building intelligent features into business applications.

- Collaboration & Product Development

 Work closely with frontend, mobile, QA, DevOps, and product teams.

 Participate in technical discussions and architecture decisions.

 Convert business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

 Troubleshoot production issues and participate in root-cause analysis.

 Take ownership of assigned modules and deliver them within agreed timelines.

 Contribute to technical documentation and engineering best practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have

 3–5 years of professional experience in Python backend development.

 Strong hands-on experience with Python 3.x.

 Strong experience with Django.





 Experience with Django REST Framework (DRF).

 Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and SQL.

 Experience with Django ORM and database optimization.

 Experience building and consuming REST APIs.

 Understanding of Redis and background task processing.

 Experience with Celery or a similar task queue.

 Good understanding of Git and Git workflows.

 Experience working with Linux.

 Experience deploying applications on AWS.

 Understanding of Docker and containerized applications.

 Experience with production debugging and performance optimization.

 Good understanding of software development lifecycle and code-review practices.
