ABOUT THE ROLE The Head of Data Strategy & Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for building and leading the unified data function across Cvent's primary clouds: Enterprise Corporates (EC) and Hospitality (HC). This is a strategic and operational role — you will set the vision for how Cvent acquires, enriches, governs, and activates its marketing database, while managing a team of ~40 across three distinct functions.
This is a newly created role designed to consolidate previously fragmented data functions into a single, accountable team with unified strategy, cloud-specific ownership, and a modern AI-native operating model. You will report into the VP, Global Demand Center and partner closely with IT, Sales, Product Marketing, and Analytics.
What you will Be doing:
Strategic Leadership
- Own the end-to-end data strategy for Cvent's marketing database — acquisition, enrichment, governance, and activation — across EC and HC
- Define and maintain ICP, TAM/SAM, and persona frameworks in partnership with Product Marketing and Sales
- Build and drive cloud-specific scorecards that create clear accountability for EC and HC data quality, coverage, and campaign readiness
- Serve as the single accountable leader for the ADI function; act as the primary liaison to the VP of GDC, CMO, and cross-functional partners
Team & Org Leadership
- Lead three functional sub-teams — Audience Strategy & Intelligence, Data Acquisition & Activation, and Data Infrastructure & Governance
- Develop and retain strong team leads; build career paths and capability plans within each function
- Drive a unified operating model that eliminates duplication across previously siloed teams and enables scale without proportional headcount growth
Data Operations & Quality
- Ensure the marketing database meets and exceeds quality thresholds: Account accuracy ≥80%, Contact accuracy ≥85%, SAM coverage >80%
- Oversee database normalization, deduplication, governance, and data validation across both clouds
- Own vendor relationships (ZoomInfo, Clearbit, Clay and others) — qualification, contracts, budget, and performance accountability
- Ensure compliance with global privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA) in coordination with Legal and Security
AI,
Automation & IT Partnership
- Partner with Cvent's IT and AI Center of Excellence to build an AI-native acquisition and enrichment operating model — agent development, workflow automation, and Snowflake pipeline integration
- Drive a unified AI roadmap for the ADI function in partnership with IT; identify and implement automation opportunities across all three sub-functions
- Own the DB/AI Management function's IT dotted-line relationship — translate business data needs into infrastructure requirements
- Lead adoption of AI-assisted workflows that improve turnaround time, data accuracy, and team capacity
GTM Enablement
- Partner with Sales and Revenue Marketing to ensure the database directly enables pipeline: right accounts, right contacts, right timing
- Ensure list pull and delivery SLAs are met for all campaign programs — including email, events, nurture, and paid digital
- Produce and maintain data scorecards and dashboards that give GDC, Sales, and Finance visibility into data health, coverage gaps, and trend
What you need for this position:
Required
- 20+ years of experience in B2B marketing data, database management, or audience strategy — with at least 5 years leading multi-functional teams of 20+ across geographies
- Demonstrated success owning a full-funnel data operation: strategy, acquisition, enrichment, governance, and GTM activation
- Experience managing across verticals or market segments — ability to hold EC and HC accountable simultaneously rather than specializing in one
- Strong command of SFDC — data governance, object structure, reporting, and quality management
- Experience with AI-assisted workflows and automation tooling; comfort building and executing an AI adoption roadmap for a data team
- Proven cross-functional partnership with IT, Sales, and Analytics — this role requires influence without authority across multiple organizations
- Track record of building and scaling teams through process improvement and technology, not just headcount
Preferred
- Experience with Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouse; comfort partnering with engineering/IT on pipeline architecture
- Familiarity with marketing automation platforms (Marketo or equivalent) and how database feeds program execution
- Background in TAM/SAM/ICP modeling and persona framework development
- Experience with vendor management and procurement for data enrichment tools (ZoomInfo, Clearbit, or equivalents)
- MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred
