About the Guild
Founded in 2022, Ethereal Exploration Guild (The Guild) is building the World’s First Fully Reusable Medium-Lift Launch Vehicle/Rocket, Razor Crest Mk-1(RCM1).
Based in India, the team has a combined flight heritage of over 75 launches from the PSLV and GSLV fleets, and more than 300 years of collective experience in the space industry. The Guild is also developing a 700,000 sq ft facility dedicated to Upper Stage Engine Testing, which is going to be India’s largest privately developed Engine Testing Facility.
The Guild has also built and manufactured India’s First Reusable Rocket Engine.
We are looking for a self-motivated individual to join the Hands of the Guild as a Avionics Software Engineer.

Role Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Avionics Software Engineer with over 3 years of hands-on experience in embedded systems, real-time software, and mission-critical aerospace applications to join our avionics and flight software team. The engineer will be responsible for the design, development, integration, debugging, and verification of high-reliability software for advanced aerospace and launch vehicle systems. The role involves developing C/C++ application software, embedded software, Linux and RT-Linux applications, device drivers, hardware abstraction layers, communication interfaces, real-time sequencing and control logic, health monitoring, fault detection and handling, and mission-critical software infrastructure.
The candidate will work closely with GNC, avionics hardware, propulsion, systems engineering, and vehicle integration teams to develop robust, deterministic, and fault-tolerant software capable of operating reliably in demanding aerospace environments.
Strong practical experience with real-time operating systems such as FreeRTOS and RT-Linux, embedded Linux, multi-threaded applications, interrupt-driven systems, inter-process communication, hardware interfaces, and deterministic execution is expected. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working close to the hardware and debugging complex hardware-software interactions across a range of microprocessors, microcontrollers, embedded computing platforms, and custom avionics systems, with a strong focus on software reliability, verification, performance, and operational robustness.
Core Responsibilities:
- Embedded & Real-Time Software: Develop reliable C/C++ software, BSPs, device drivers, HALs and real-time applications for avionics and launch vehicle systems.
- Flight Software & System Architecture: Design deterministic software architectures, communication interfaces, fault management, redundancy, health monitoring and fail-safe mechanisms.
- Integration, Verification & Testing: Develop SIL/PIL/HIL environments and automated test systems. Lead software integration, hardware bring-up, debugging, hot-fire and vehicle testing.
- Ground & Test Systems: Develop software for test sequencing, DAQ, telemetry, command execution, interlocks, permissives, safing and emergency shutdown.
- Software Engineering & Reliability: Maintain requirements traceability, version control, code reviews, CI/CD, documentation and controlled releases for mission-critical software.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer, Electrical/Electronics, ECE, Aerospace, Computer Science, or related field.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in embedded, real-time, or systems software development.
- Strong proficiency in C/C++ and low-level embedded programming.
- Experience with Linux, FreeRTOS, BSPs, HALs and device drivers.
- Strong understanding of real-time systems, scheduling, interrupts, concurrency, memory and hardware interfaces.
- Experience with ARM, RISC-V or equivalent processor architectures.
- Hands-on experience with SPI, I²C, UART, RS-422/RS-485, CAN/CAN-FD and Ethernet.
- Experience with bootloaders, board bring-up, cross-compilation and embedded build systems.
- Experience with JTAG/SWD, GDB, oscilloscopes, logic analysers and protocol analysers.
- Experience with unit, integration, SIL/PIL/HIL and regression testing.
- Strong Git, debugging, code review and software configuration management practices.
- Robust analytical and root-cause troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work effectively with hardware, avionics, GNC, propulsion, systems and test teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Embedded Systems, Computer Engineering, Avionics, Aerospace, or related field.
- Experience in launch vehicles, spacecraft, avionics, defence or other safety-critical systems.
- Experience with RT-Linux/PREEMPT_RT and deterministic real-time systems.
- Experience with MIL-STD-1553, SpaceWire or other deterministic aerospace interfaces.
- Experience developing software for engine, propulsion or high-energy test systems.
- Knowledge of fault-tolerant, redundant and safety-critical software architectures.
- Experience with fault injection, timing analysis and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with aerospace software verification, configuration and quality processes.
