MPS Limited is looking for an Assistant Manager Finance to manage the end-to-end Accounts Payable process while owning key General Ledger (GL) and Record-to-Report (R2R) activities. This is a hands-on role suited to someone comfortable operating across transaction processing (AP), month-end close, reconciliations, and MIS/audit reporting, in a SAP ERP environment within a listed company.
Experience-58 years in core accounting, with exposure to both AP and GL/R2R processes
Qualification-B.Com / M.Com / MBA (Finance); CA-Inter / CMA-Inter preferred
Role & responsibilities
A. Accounts Payable (AP)
- Process PO and Non-PO invoices in the AP tool and SAP ERP, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Handle AP mailbox queries from customers/vendors and respond proactively, tracking open items to closure
- Review all invoices for appropriate supporting documentation and approvals prior to booking
- Prepare TDS and GST reports, with good working knowledge of applicable rates, sections, and return-filing linkages
- Book Non-CTC travel expenses accurately against the correct cost centers/GL codes
- Create new vendor master records in SAP and update vendor information (bank details, tax registration, contact details) on an ongoing basis
- Coordinate with various departments and support the Business Development team on vendor and invoice-related matters
- Manage Petty Cash entries under the Imprest Account, including replenishment and reconciliation
- Prepare and maintain schedules for Prepaid Expenses, Provisions, Travel, Staff Advances, Admin Expenses, Freelancer Tracker, and Outsource Cost Report
B. General Ledger (GL) & Record-to-Report (R2R)
- Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, prepayments, provisions, and amortization in SAP, ensuring correct GL coding and cost-center allocation
- Perform General Ledger scrutiny and balance sheet account reconciliations on a monthly basis, ensuring all open/unreconciled items are tracked and cleared within agreed timelines
- Maintain the Fixed Asset Register (FAR) capitalization, depreciation run, asset transfers/disposals, and periodic physical verification support
- Prepare Bank Reconciliation Statements (BRS) and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner
- Support intercompany reconciliations and elimination entries, including coordination with overseas group entities where applicable
- Drive monthly and year-end book closure activities in line with the Group close calendar, ensuring all schedules are completed and signed off
- Prepare Trial Balance, P&L;, and Balance Sheet schedules for management review, along with variance analysis (MoM/YoY) and supporting commentary
- Assist in preparation of standalone/consolidated financial statements in compliance with Ind AS, Schedule III of the Companies Act, and other applicable accounting standards
- Maintain unbilled revenue, deferred revenue, and revenue recognition schedules, and reconcile these with the GL and billing systems
- Reconcile GST/TDS ledgers with Form 26AS/2A/2B and follow up on mismatches with the compliance team
- Support statutory, internal, and tax auditors by preparing audit schedules, responding to queries, and ensuring adherence to Internal Financial Controls (IFC)
- Contribute to monthly MIS preparation and Audit schedule compilation for management and audit committee reporting
- Exposure to accounting for overseas subsidiaries / ODI-related transactions (e.g., FEMA reporting inputs, foreign remittance accounting) will be an added advantage, given MPS's overseas group structure
Skills & Competencies
- Strong working knowledge of SAP ERP (FI module AP, GL, Asset Accounting); exposure to AP automation tools is a plus
- Sound understanding of Indian direct and indirect tax compliance as relevant to accounting (TDS, GST)
- Working knowledge of Ind AS and Schedule III financial statement requirements
- Strong reconciliation, analytical, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders internal departments, vendors, and auditors — with a proactive, service-oriented approach
- Good MS Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliation templates); MS Office proficiency generally
- Strong ownership of deadlines, particularly around month-end close and audit timelines
- Positive written and verbal communication skills
