Job Title: SD (Sales & Distribution) Accountant Department: Finance & Accounts Reports To: Finance Manager / Regional Finance Controller Location: [Insert Location] Industry: FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) Job Purpose To manage and control all accounting activities related to the sales and distribution function, ensuring accurate revenue recognition, distributor/dealer account reconciliation, claims settlement, and compliance with company policies and statutory requirements. Key Responsibilities 1. Sales Accounting Record and reconcile primary and secondary sales on a daily/monthly basis Ensure accurate booking of credit notes, and debit notes 2. Distributor / Dealer Management Maintain and reconcile distributor/dealer ledgers and running accounts Process and verify distributor claims (scheme, freight, damage, expiry, incentives) Monitor outstanding balances and coordinate with sales team for collections Conduct periodic distributor account reconciliation and balance confirmations 3. Scheme & Claims Management Validate trade scheme claims against approved policies Process rebates, discounts, and promotional scheme settlements Ensure timely closure of claims within TAT (Turnaround Time) 4.



Credit Control Monitor credit limits and credit period compliance for distributors/dealers Coordinate with sales team on blocking/unblocking of accounts 5. Compliance & Reporting Ensure GST/tax compliance on sales transactions, credit/debit notes Prepare MIS reports: sales reconciliation, claims aging, outstanding reports, scheme cost analysis Assist in month-end/year-end closing related to SD accounting 6. Coordination Liaise with Sales, Logistics, and Supply Chain teams for dispatch-to-billing reconciliation Coordinate with internal/statutory auditors for SD-related audits Support ERP/SAP SD module data accuracy and issue resolution Key Skills & Competencies Robust knowledge of SD (Sales & Distribution) accounting processes Proficiency in SAP SD/FI module or similar ERP systems Sound understanding of GST, TDS, and trade scheme structures Advanced MS Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, etc.) Strong reconciliation and analytical skills Good communication skills for coordination with sales/distributor network Qualification & Experience Education: B.Com / M.Com / MBA (Finance) / CA Inter / ICWA Inter Experience: 26 years in FMCG sales accounting, distributor accounting, or SD role Preferred: Experience with SAP SD module, distributor management systems (DMS)
