Aerodynamics Expert CFD & Python | Remote Contract
We are hiring an Aerodynamics Expert for a fully remote, project-based prospect involving advanced aerodynamic analysis, CFD, engineering simulation, and Python-based computational workflows.
The expert will contribute to technical projects involving aerodynamic and fluid-dynamics problem solving, simulation setup and validation, and evaluation of engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and validate aerodynamic and fluid-dynamics analyses.
- Translate physical problems into computational models.
- Define geometry, computational domains, meshes, initial/boundary conditions, fluid properties, and solver settings.
- Perform CFD/aerodynamic simulations and analyse pressure, velocity, forces, moments, lift, drag, and pressure losses.
- Diagnose mesh-quality, convergence, numerical-stability, turbulence-model, and boundary-condition issues.
- Conduct mesh-independence studies and validate simulation results against analytical, experimental, or reference data.
- Use Python for preprocessing, simulation automation, parameter sweeps, post-processing, and validation.
- Work with CFD/engineering tools through CLI, scripts, configuration files, APIs, or other programmatic workflows.
- Review technical engineering solutions for physical and numerical correctness.
Required Qualifications
- MS/PhD in Aerospace, Aeronautical,
Mechanical Engineering or a related specialization in aerodynamics/fluid mechanics/thermofluids; OR
- Bachelor's in Aerospace/Aeronautical/Mechanical Engineering with 1–2+ years of aerodynamics-specific professional or research experience.
- Strong fundamentals in fluid mechanics and applied aerodynamics.
- Hands-on CFD/aerodynamic simulation experience.
- Strong Python programming skills.
- Experience with at least one CFD/engineering tool that can be operated programmatically.
- Ability to justify mesh strategy, boundary conditions, turbulence models, solver settings and engineering assumptions.
- Ability to diagnose non-convergence and physically invalid simulation results.
Relevant Tools
OpenFOAM, SU2, ANSYS Fluent/CFX, Gmsh, FEniCSx, Elmer, CalculiX, or equivalent CFD/simulation tools. Python libraries such as NumPy, SciPy, pandas and Matplotlib are valuable.
