Under general supervision and applying knowledge gained with experience, begins functioning as a technical specialist. Continues to build on experience and gain more in depth knowledge working on larger and more complex assignments. May start to expand knowledge into other disciplines and/or functional areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Continues to learn and remains current on departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and BV policies and procedures. Applies to assigned tasks as appropriate.
- Continues developing and can independently apply knowledge. Complies with BV quality program relative to assigned tasks. Supports continuous improvement and change management efforts.
- Prepares a variety of increasingly complex engineering deliverables. Performs research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection. Collects, assimilates, and manages data for engineering work. Prepares increasingly complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles. Understands and adheres to budget, schedule, and quality requirements. May recognize, define and resolve problems within assigned area. May provide direction and guidance to others.
- Assigns tasks to develop entry level professionals and interns. Coordinates with project leadership and other internal/external team members on less complex projects. Interacts as needed with other disciplines on details of design work.
- Works to understand external clients interest and drivers through regular interaction and communication. Also focuses on needs of internal clients and project leadership. May provide support to business development or pursuit activities.
- Shares current knowledge of latest technology and processes.
- As skills develop, may assist with performance management process, recognition, and any corrective actions required. Actively mentors entry level professionals and interns.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience: 04 to 08 years of experience in system/process engineering of thermal power generation plant (Coal/Open Cycle/Combined Cycle).
1. Can perform calculation which includes pipe sizing calculations, pipe thickness calculations, pump sizing calculation, control valve sizing calculations, heat exchanger sizing, atm. tank sizing etc. for systems listed below as per international codes standards.
2. PID development and drafting in Bentley OPPID (preferred), SPPID etc.
3. Vendor Pre-Bid Engineering - Equipment commodities RFP preparation, bid clarification and bid evaluation.
4. Vendor Post Bid Engineering - Review of documents and approval, coordination with Vendor and internal team, site coordination for technical queries.
5. Shall have design experience and familiarity on power block and balance of plant systems, typical systems to perform design engineering work stated above in point 1 to 4 are listed below, candidate may not have exposure to all but open to learn and understand quickly would be preferred:
1. Instrument air supply system
2. Service air supply system
3. Demineralized (DM) water supply and make up system
4. Service water supply system
5. Potable water supply system
6. Natural Gas Supply System
7. Hydrogen gas supply system
8. Nitrogen gas supply system
9. Cooling water system
10. Closed cycle cooling water system
11. High Pressure / Intermediate Pressure / Low / Auxiliary Steam system
12. Feedwater system
13. Condensate system
14. CO2 Supply System
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelors degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the qualified is practicing. Minimum of 4 year related work experience. .
