Position Title: Vice President of Aftersales
Department: Aftersales (Service, Parts, and Customer Relations)
Reports To: Dealer principle/CEO
Location: Chennai
Job Purpose
The Vice President of Aftersales provides strategic vision, operational leadership, and financial oversight for the dealerships service, parts, collision repair, and customer care departments. As a key member of the executive leadership team, this role is fully responsible for maximizing aftersales profitability, improving fixed operations absorption rates, and embedding the core Toyota "Customer First" philosophy across all locations to drive lifetime owner retention.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic & Operational Leadership
- Direct the daily operations of multi-location Service and Parts departments to ensure peak efficiency, modern workflow throughput, and maximum technician efficiency.
- Implement and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) aligned with global Toyota Dealer Operation Guidelines to optimize workflow and reduce operational waste.
- Oversee parts inventory management, utilizing retail inventory systems to balance high fill rates with efficient stock turnover.
2. Financial Performance & Profitability
- Take full profit and loss (P&L;) accountability for all fixed operations, establishing annual revenue, gross profit, and expense budgets.
- Drive labor sales, parts sales, wholesale growth, and accessory penetration to exceed monthly and yearly financial benchmarks.
- Analyze daily operational metrics (e.g., effective labor rate, hours per repair order, parts matrix pricing) to implement corrective strategies when needed.
3. Toyota Guest Experience & Retention
- Champion the Toyota Customer First mindset,
continuously tracking and improving the Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) and net promoter metrics.
- Develop proactive customer retention initiatives, service marketing campaigns, and digital booking strategies to secure long-term brand loyalty.
- Ensure skilled, swift resolution of complex customer escalations, maintaining close communication with regional Toyota distributors.
4. Team Development & Compliance
- Lead, mentor, and build a high-performing team of Service Managers, Parts Managers, advisors, and technical personnel.
- Establish training paths to ensure technicians achieve and maintain required Toyota certifications.
- Enforce strict compliance with local governmental regulations, environmental standards, workplace safety protocols, and factory warranty policies.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Automotive Technology, or a related field; a Master’s degree or MBA is highly desirable.
- Experience: Minimum of 15 years of comprehensive automotive fixed operations or OEM aftersales experience, with at least 5 to 7 years in a senior executive or multi-site director role.
- Brand Knowledge: Direct experience managing high-volume Toyota or Lexus aftersales environments, with deep familiarity with Toyota systems, warranty processes, and value-chain operations is strongly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in modern Dealership Management Systems (DMS), parts inventory databases, and retail analytics tools.
- Leadership: Proven track record of managing large teams, driving cross-functional collaboration, and executing successful change management. Role & responsibilities
