1) Technical Studies Analysis

- Conduct in-depth technical studies to evaluate material performance under various service conditions (e.g., stress, temperature, corrosion, fatigue).

- Perform failure analysis on components to determine root causes of failure and recommend corrective actions.

- Analyze material data from internal and external sources to support design decisions and process improvements.

- Stay abreast of industry trends, new materials, and advanced processing techniques.
2) Material Development

- Lead or support the development of new materials, alloys, and composite systems to meet specific product requirements.

- Design and execute experiments to optimize material properties for strength, ductility, toughness, and durability.

- Collaborate with suppliers and research institutions to source and evaluate advanced materials.

3) Material Identification for Components and Subcomponents

- Select and specify appropriate materials for current and existing components and subcomponents based on design requirements, cost, and manufacturability.

- Review and approve material specifications, ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal quality control protocols.

- Provide expert guidance to design engineers on material selection trade-offs and best practices.
4)Manufacturing Assistance





- Provide metallurgical support to manufacturing teams, addressing issues related to heat treatment, welding, forging, casting, and other material processing techniques.

- Troubleshoot manufacturing defects and recommend process adjustments to improve yield and quality.

- Develop and implement quality control procedures for materials and material processes.

5) Documentation

- Prepare detailed technical reports, including material specifications, test results, and failure analysis findings.

- Create and maintain a comprehensive database of material properties, test data, and process documentation.

- Generate and update engineering change notices (ECNs) related to material and process changes.

6) Material Test Program

- Develop and manage material testing programs to qualify new materials and validate existing ones.

- Oversee mechanical testing (e.g., tensile, hardness, impact), non-destructive testing (NDT), and metallographic analysis.

- Interpret test data and provide recommendations based on findings.1

- Ensure all testing is conducted in accordance with relevant standards (e.g., ISO).
