Job Summary

Job Objective - Supervise and guide the nursing care provided by the nursing staff.

Responsibilities

- Give complete and comprehensive report to the ANS.
- Guides team leader in planning and scheduling of work for nursing personnel ensuring proper distribution of assignments and adequate manning and take report of her unit from the on duty staff nurse /Team Leader in all three shifts.
- Keep the ANS/DNS informed of the needs of the nursing units/ward under her supervision and of any special problem and Report about any medico legal cases
- Assist in verification of ward stock, their indents, maintenance and condemnation etc.
- Act and Maintain liaison between nursing personnel and other departments to ensure coordination for optimal patient care and for smooth running of the unit.
- Counsel unit team leader, staff nurses in the development of professional skills
- Maintain communication with patients, the families and other hospital staff to ensure compliance with hospital administrative and nursing policies.
- Prepares and submits reports to ANS as directed.
- Responds to all medical emergencies, guide staff nurses and ensures patient care as per guidelines.




- Responds to patient/family/staff grievances and addresses them in qualified manner upholding the organizational values.
- Report any theft or loss to the higher authority through ANS.
- Maintain daily patient s census of the unit and report about the critically ill patients to ANS/DNS.
- Perform any other duty allotted to her by the ANS/DNS in the interest of the public and when necessary.
- To organize and give the orientation programme to staffs of the unit
- To evaluate the staffs performance in the ward report accordingly.
- Reporting of incidence, assist and supervise the staff nurses for incidental teaching, health education programme (formal and informal) for the patients and their relatives.
- Conduct continuing nursing education programme on weekly basis.
