About the productJackhammer is a multi-tenant analytics and operations platform used by dental practices to run their day: production and collections reporting, AR aging, patient reactivation campaigns, appointment scheduling, digital consent forms with e-signature, and staff time tracking with payroll export. An LLM-backed assistant sits on top of it, answering questions about a practice's own numbers and generating daily briefings for owners who don't want to read dashboards. It's a real production system with real users, not a greenfield prototype. You'll be working in an existing codebase, shipping to practices who depend on it, and dealing with the kinds of problems that come with a system that's already live schema migrations against production data, multi-tenant data isolation, and integrations with dental practice-management software. What you'll do
- Build and maintain features across the stack — Angular on the front end, Flask and SQLAlchemy on the back
- Own features end to end: schema change, API endpoint, UI, and the migration that ships it
- Write Alembic migrations for schema changes and keep the model and database in sync
- Work on the data ingestion pipeline that pulls practice data from external practice-management systems
- Extend the in-app AI assistant: the conversational panel that answers questions about a practice's own data, plus the generated daily briefings and scorecard insights
- Debug production issues using logs and container shells — reading a traceback and tracing it to a root cause is a core part of this job
- Review your own work critically before it ships; we're a small team without a dedicated QA function
What we're looking forRequired
- 3–6 years building web applications, with real ownership of both frontend and backend work
- Solid Python — you can read an unfamiliar Flask codebase and find your way around it
- Working SQLAlchemy experience, including writing queries that don't fall over on real data volumes
- Comfortable with a component-based frontend framework — Angular preferred, but solid React or Vue experience with willingness to learn Angular is fine
- SQL fluency: joins, aggregates, indexes, and an understanding of why a query is slow
- Git, and the habit of writing commits someone else can follow
Strongly preferred
- Shipped an LLM feature to real users — not a weekend demo, but something you had to make reliable, keep affordable, and fix when it produced a wrong answer in front of a customer
- Familiarity with tool/function calling, structured output, streaming responses, and token cost as a design constraint
- Database migrations in production — Alembic, Flyway, Django migrations, anything where you've had to reconcile a model with a database that didn't match it
- Multi-tenant application experience, or a clear understanding of why tenant isolation is a security boundary and not a filter
- Experience with healthcare data or another regulated domain
- Cloud deployment experience (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP transfers fine)
