Navan has transformed the corporate travel, payment, and expense landscape by consistently prioritizing user needs We are seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer 2 for our AI-first engineering team to drive the architecture of a next-generation corporate expense management platform, In this role, you will scale backend systems powering global commerce, payments, issuing platforms, and Payment/money ledgers, while building infrastructure for automated policy management, granular admin controls, and seamless accounting system integrations.

What You’ll Do:

- Design, Build, and Evolve: Architect and develop end-to-end features across the stack. You will evolve the robust Java/Spring Boot backend services that power our platform, while building the responsive frontend interfaces for our Admin and User portals.
- Build Enterprise-Grade Workflows: Create powerful backend engines and supporting UIs for complex business domains, such as configuring travel policies, visualizing approval chains, and managing user roles/permissions.
- Build Data-Driven Services: Architect and scale APIs and data services that manage high volumes of data, ensure transactional integrity, and power reporting features and seamless integrations.
- Own Features End-to-End: Take technical ownership of a problem domain, facilitating the design, development, and launch of key microservices and features that have a direct impact on our users.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work cross-functionally with various engineering, product, and design teams to deliver complex, cross-domain features in a collaborative workplace.
- Drive the Vision: Partner with engineering and product leadership to identify, plan,



and execute the long-term technical vision for your domain and be a subject matter expert.
- Champion Best Practices: Contribute to a culture of technical excellence by writing high-quality, well-tested code, mentoring other engineers, and advocating for best practices in testing, monitoring, and operational reliability.

What We’re Looking For:

- 2-4 years of experience in software development, with a strong focus on full-stack web applications in fast-paced SaaS environments.
- Backend Architecture: Deep, hands-on experience in server-side development using Java and Spring Boot. Skilled in data modeling, query optimization, and designing secure, scalable RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Frontend Engineering: Solid experience in modern frontend development using React, Angular, or Vue, along with proficiency in TypeScript, state management, and building seamless API-driven user interfaces.
- Full-Stack Integration & Architecture: Proven expertise bridging frontend user experiences with backend microservices, distributed systems, and cloud platforms like AWS.
- Collaborative Ownership: Demonstrates strong ownership and a collaborative mindset, with clear communication skills and a proven ability to ship production-quality code equipped with robust monitoring and documentation.
- AI-Enabled Workflow: Ability to effectively leverage AI development tools (such as GitHub Copilot, CodeGPT, Claude, and Cursor) to accelerate development and innovate on engineering workflows.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field—or equivalent hands-on experience.
