Role: Quantitative Researcher (Contract)

Company: Meridian Capital

Location: 100% Remote (India)

Format: 3-Month Live Project

About Meridian CapitalMeridian Capital is a proprietary algorithmic trading firm actively operating in the Indian stock market. We execute our strategies through a fully automated, end-to-end systematic trading platform designed to identify and exploit market inefficiencies with zero manual intervention required for trade execution.

The Role & ChallengeWe are seeking a sharp, highly analytical, and results-driven Quantitative Researcher for a specialized 3-month contract. Your primary objective will be to audit, stress-test, and extensively optimize the mathematical and logical foundation of our current trading algorithm to maximize our market edge.

This engagement is strictly performance-oriented and structured around two core phases:

- Phase 1 (The 2-Week Sprint): Within the first 14 days of engagement, evaluate our existing quantitative logic and deliver at least one profitable, mathematically robust model that we can immediately deploy into live trading environments.
- Phase 2 (Ongoing Optimization): For the remainder of the 3-month contract, shift focus toward developing advanced quantitative metrics, refining statistical models, and continuously optimizing the system for peak performance and risk mitigation.

Target Performance MetricsOptimization efforts must be engineered to achieve or exceed the following benchmarks:

- Sharpe Ratio: > 1.5
- Sortino Ratio: > 1.8
- Win Rate: 45% or greater
- Monthly Return: Minimum 5% consistent growth

Compensation & Profit SharingThis role is highly leveraged toward performance, rewarding the specific alpha you generate directly.

- Fixed Stipend: ₹5,000 per month (paid upon initial verification of a profitable, working algorithm).
- Performance Share (30%): You will receive 30% of all trading profits generated by the firm. This profit share activates the moment your quantitative logic is deployed in our live algorithm and remains in effect for the entire duration of your engagement with Meridian Capital.

Must-Have Qualifications

- Strong academic foundation in Mathematics, Statistics, Quantitative Finance, Computer Science, or a heavily quantitative engineering discipline.
- Proven, hands-on experience in statistical modeling, backtesting frameworks, and algorithmic trading logic.
- Deep, intuitive understanding of risk-adjusted return metrics (e.g., Sharpe, Sortino, Calmar, Maximum Drawdown).
- Ability to rapidly prototype, stress-test, and deploy mathematical logic tailored for financial markets under tight deadlines.
- Robust working knowledge of Indian stock market dynamics, market micro-structure, and historical market data handling.

Preferred Qualifications

- Proficiency in Python, R, or C++ for extensive quantitative analysis and data manipulation.
- Prior experience building, auditing, or optimizing end-to-end systematic trading strategies from scratch.
- A pragmatic, objective mindset that prioritizes live-market applicability and robust execution over theoretical perfection.
