About the Role

Hill Spring International School is looking for an experienced Head of Sports to lead and grow our K-12 sports program. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role responsible for the full scope of school athletics — from coaching staff and facilities to tournaments, budgets, and ensuring every student has a genuine opportunity to compete and grow through sport.

You'll work closely with school leadership, coaches, and faculty to build an athletics program that reflects the same standard of excellence as our academic programs.

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership

- Oversee all sports programs and activities across the K-12 school, with sports development as the central priority
- Set the strategic direction and standards for the athletics department, focused on giving every student a genuine path to explore, develop, and excel in sport

Student Access & Opportunity

- Ensure students at all levels have opportunities to participate in and compete across a range of sports
- Champion an inclusive athletics culture that supports both competitive and recreational participation

Talent Pathways

- Identify and support higher-performing student-athletes with pathways to district, state, national, or other representative-level competition
- Coordinate with external clubs, academies, or federations where relevant to student development

PE Curriculum Alignment

- Coordinate with academic PE teachers and faculty to align co-curricular sports programming with classroom physical education
- Ensure a consistent progression of physical development and skills from PE through competitive athletics

Tournament & Competition Logistics

- Plan and coordinate logistics for inter-school, regional,



and other sports tournaments and events
- Manage scheduling, transportation, travel, permissions, and on-the-day operations, including away fixtures and overnight trips

Facility Management

- Manage and maintain school sports facilities, ensuring they are safe, well-equipped, and available for training and competition

Budget Oversight

- Manage the athletics budget, including equipment purchases, program funding, and resource allocation
- Evaluate vendors and negotiate costs for equipment, kits, and facility needs

Parent & Community Communications

- Serve as the primary point of contact for parents on schedules, results, and sports-related policies
- Build relationships with the wider school community and represent HSI athletics at school and inter-school events

Performance Reporting

- Report on participation rates, competition results, and budget spend to school leadership
- Track program outcomes and use data to inform planning and resource allocation

Staffing & Personnel

- Drive the hiring process for coaches and sports-related staff, partnering with school leadership on final hiring decisions
- Onboard, manage, and support the performance of coaching and sports support staff

What We're Looking For

- Minimum 5 years of experience in athletics administration, sports management, or a similar leadership role, ideally within a school or educational setting
- Proven experience hiring, managing, and developing coaching or sports staff
- Strong track record in budget management and resource planning
- Experience organizing tournaments, fixtures, or large-scale sporting events
- Excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- A genuine passion for youth sports development and student wellbeing
- Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, or a related field (Master's preferred)
- Prior experience in a K-12 or international school environment (IB/IGCSE familiarity) is a plus
