Jewellery Merchandiser
About the Role:
We are looking for a Jewellery Category Merchandiser to manage the end-to-end product development, sourcing, vendor coordination, and merchandising of our jewellery category. The role requires a strong understanding of jewellery trends, materials, costing, product development, and vendor management, along with a keen eye for detail and commercial understanding.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Development: Work closely with the design team to develop /source new jewellery styles based on trends, customer preferences, and the brand’s aesthetic.
- Vendor Sourcing & Management: Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with jewellery manufacturers and vendors for product development, pricing, MOQs, and lead times.
- Sampling & Prototyping: Coordinate with vendors for samples and prototypes, ensuring designs are developed accurately as per specifications.
- Material & Component Sourcing: Good Understanding of sourcing and coordination of materials such as beads, stones, chains, charms, clasps, metals, plating, and other jewellery components.
- Costing & Negotiation: Prepare product costings and negotiate with vendors to achieve target costs while maintaining required quality and design standards.
- Quality Control: Ensure jewellery meets defined standards for finishing, plating, colour, stones, assembly, durability, and overall workmanship. Resolve quality issues with vendors.
- Production Coordination: Track orders from sampling to bulk production and ensure products are delivered within agreed timelines.
- Inventory & Range Management: Monitor product availability, stock levels, replenishment requirements, and identify opportunities for newness or repeat styles.
- Trend & Market Research: Track jewellery trends,
materials, silhouettes, price points, competitors, and emerging consumer preferences to identify new product opportunities.
- Documentation: Maintain product specifications, costing sheets, sample records, vendor details, order trackers, and production updates.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Coordinate closely with design, sourcing, production, quality, and merchandising teams to ensure smooth development and launch of the jewellery range.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma or Degree in Fashion Design, Jewellery Design, Merchandising, Fashion Management, or a related field from NIFT, Pearl, or similar institutions.
- 2+ years of experience in jewellery merchandising, sourcing, product development, or production coordination, ideally with fashion, D2C, lifestyle, or fast-fashion brands.
- Strong knowledge of jewellery materials, components, manufacturing processes, plating, finishing, and construction.
- Good understanding of jewellery trends, commercial product development, and customer preferences.
- Strong costing, negotiation, vendor management, and follow-up skills.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, trend-driven environment.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, PPT, Word, and communication tools to manage costings, product trackers, reports, and vendor updates.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with designers, vendors, production teams, and cross-functional stakeholders.
