Role Purpose The Principal Architect will lead the architecture, design, and implementation of enterprise-scale process automation solutions using Camunda BPM, Java, and Spring Boot technologies. The role is responsible for defining technology strategy, establishing architecture standards, driving innovation, and ensuring scalable, secure, and resilient solutions across multiple business domains.

As a senior technology leader, the Principal Architect will collaborate with Enterprise Architects, Product Owners, Business Stakeholders, Delivery Teams, and Engineering Leaders to build world-class workflow automation platforms and modern microservices-based solutions. This role builds upon the Camunda, BPMN, Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, and microservices expertise highlighted in existing Camunda engineering roles.

Key Accountabilities

Enterprise Architecture

Define and own the enterprise architecture roadmap for Camunda-based process automation platforms. Design scalable BPMN and DMN-driven workflow solutions aligned with business objectives. Establish architecture principles, standards, and governance frameworks. Provide technical leadership for complex transformation programs. Solution Design & Delivery

Lead solution architecture from requirements through production deployment. Define integration patterns between Camunda, APIs, databases, event streams, and enterprise applications. Design cloud-native and containerized solutions using modern architecture practices. Ensure performance, scalability, security, and maintainability of solutions. Technology Leadership





Act as the highest-level technical authority for Camunda platforms. Mentor Solution Architects, Technical Leads, and Development Teams. Lead architecture reviews, design workshops, and technology evaluations. Drive engineering excellence and adoption of best practices. Modern Software Engineering

Define microservices architecture using Java and Spring Boot. Drive event-driven architecture patterns using Kafka and messaging platforms. Champion CI/CD, Dev Ops, observability, and automation practices. Establish reusable frameworks, accelerators, and reference architectures. Stakeholder Management

Partner with business leaders to identify automation opportunities. Translate business requirements into scalable technology solutions. Influence strategic technology decisions at organizational level. Collaborate with global teams and vendors. Required Technical Skills

Camunda Expertise

Deep expertise in Camunda 7 and/or Camunda 8. Strong understanding of: BPMN 2.0 DMN Process Orchestration Workflow Automation Human Workflows Process Monitoring and Optimization Java & Spring Ecosystem

Expert-level Java development experience. Strong hands-on experience with: Spring Framework Spring Boot Spring Cloud Spring Security JPA/Hibernate Solid understanding of Java design patterns and enterprise application architecture. Architecture & Integration





Microservices Architecture Event-Driven Architecture Domain Driven Design (DDD) API-led Architecture REST APIs Enterprise Integration Patterns SOA Architecture Messaging & Data

Apache Kafka Rabbit MQ or equivalent messaging platforms SQL & No SQL Databases Data Modelling Cloud & Dev Ops

15+ years of software engineering experience. 8+ years in architecture leadership roles. 5+ years of Camunda implementation and architecture experience. Proven experience delivering large-scale enterprise automation programs. Strong experience leading distributed Agile teams. Experience working within SAFe, Agile, and Dev Ops environments.
