Company Description Gram Vikas Sewa Sansthan (GVSS) is a grassroots development organization working with women, rural communities, migrant workers, youth, and marginalized communities across Uttar Pradesh. GVSS partners closely with local communities to promote dignity, empowerment, collective action, and sustainable development. The organization focuses on women’s empowerment, social protection, livelihoods, education, health, migration, and environmental sustainability.
Team members work directly in the field, engaging with stakeholders and supporting community-led initiatives that create long-term social impact.
Role Description This is a full-time, in office Social Worker role based in Akbarpur.
The Social
Worker will engage with community members, conduct field visits, and facilitate meetings and group discussions with women, youth, and marginalized communities.
Responsibilities include assessing community needs, providing guidance on social protection schemes, supporting access to education, health, and livelihood opportunities, and coordinating with local authorities and partner organizations. The role involves organizing awareness campaigns, maintaining accurate case records and reports, and contributing to project planning and implementation.
The Social
Worker will also assist in monitoring program outcomes and sharing feedback to strengthen GVSS’s interventions.
Qualifications
- Strong community engagement and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build trust with diverse groups and facilitate group meetings.
- Knowledge of social work practices, community development, and government social protection schemes relevant to rural and marginalized communities.
- Ability to conduct field-based research, document cases, and prepare clear reports and updates for project teams and stakeholders.
- Effective communication skills in spoken and written forms, with the ability to explain complex information in simple, accessible language.
- Organizational and time-management skills to plan field activities, manage multiple cases, and meet reporting timelines.
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Development Studies, or a related discipline; a master’s degree is an advantage.
- Prior experience working with rural communities, women’s groups, youth, or marginalized populations is highly beneficial.
- Willingness to travel within the local area, work in field conditions, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
