About Kirloskar Advanced Systems Pvt. Ltd. (KASL)
Kirloskar is one of India's most enduring industrial legacies — 135 years of engineering excellence that helped build the nation's industrial backbone, from the country's first iron plough to world-class heavy engineering in engines, energy, and power generation. Today, Kirloskar Oil Engines Ltd., the group's flagship, is growing at 25% year-on-year, driven by surging demand across infrastructure, railways, marine, nuclear, and defense sectors.
KASL is the group's next frontier: Incorporated as an agile, purpose-built subsidiary, KASL exists to move fast in the domains that matter most — aerospace, defence, and the emerging technologies that will define the next generation of national security. We are not a legacy business adapting to change. We are a new entity, built from the ground up, with the mandate to compete and win in the world's most demanding technology domains.
Our current programmes include the Engine Series that support a state-of-the-art naval propulsion system being developed under India's Make-In-India initiative — alongside a growing portfolio of missile components, communication peripherals, and bespoke power generation systems of strategic national importance.
Collaborative and Autonomous Systems (KCAS) KCAS is KASL's most forward-leaning business unit — built with a singular mandate: develop and deliver modern battlefield technologies that give India's armed forces a decisive edge. We operate on two vectors:
- Autonomous Platforms — Unmanned and autonomous systems for operations in contested air, land, and maritime domains.
- Battlefield Integration Systems — Networked, collaborative technologies
Key Responsibilities:
- Data-Link Architecture Ownership – Own end-to-end UAV communications architecture across C2, payload,
and inter-UAV links; define operating frequencies, waveform requirements, encryption standards, and latency budgets; ensure compliance with WPC spectrum licensing and type-approval requirements.
- RF System Design & Verification – Lead RF system design activities including antenna selection, cable and connector specification, RF shielding, and co-site interference analysis for UAV and GCS platforms; manage link margin verification through analysis, lab measurement, and flight-test range trials.
- EW Resilience & Secure Communications – Define and validate EW resilience requirements for UAV data links; lead implementation of FHSS/DSSS anti-jam measures, null-steering antenna techniques, and GNSS spoofing countermeasures; lead tests to assess EW compatibility assessments.
- MANET & Team-oriented Communications – Lead design and field validation of mesh ad-hoc network (MANET) communications for swarm and collaborative UAV operations; evaluate commercial offerings against KCAS programme requirements and manage vendor integration activities.
- Standards & Interoperability – Manage adoption of interoperability standards for military data links; represent KCAS communications system with customer and regulator agencies.
- Team Leadership – Lead a team of communications engineers; plan workloads, conduct design reviews, mentor junior engineers, and report communications system status to the Principal and programme offices.
Requirements:
1.Bachelor's Degree in Electronics / Communications / Electrical Engineering; Master's Degree in RF/Microwave Engineering, Signal Processing, or Communications Systems preferred.
2.Upto 8 years of RF/communications engineering experience in aerospace, defense, or telecommunications, with at least 3 years on UAV or airborne communications systems. 3.Demonstrated ownership of UAV data-link system design and flight-test validation.
