Job Overview /n We are looking for a Backend Automation Engineer with Microservices API Testing and Kafka with strong experience in Microservices testing, Kafka, API Rest Assured automation, and database automation testing. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing scalable automation frameworks and validating end-to-end distributed systems across APIs, Kafka events, and databases. /n The candidate will collaborate closely with development, product, DevOps, and QA teams in an Agile environment to establish effective test strategies, improve automation coverage, and ensure high-quality software delivery. /n /n Key Requirements /n /n

- 7–12 years of experience in software quality assurance and test automation.

/n

- Strong hands-on experience testing microservices-based applications and distributed systems.

/n

- Experience with Apache Kafka, including topic, producer, consumer, message, partition, offset, and event-flow validation.

/n

- Strong experience in API automation testing using tools/frameworks such as REST Assured, Postman, or equivalent.

/n

- Strong programming experience in Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python.

/n

- Experience designing and developing automation frameworks from scratch.

/n

- Solid knowledge of database automation testing and backend data validation.

/n

- Ability to write complex SQL queries for relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar databases.

/n

- Experience validating data consistency and integrity across APIs, Kafka events, and databases.

/n

- Experience with end-to-end testing of microservices workflows.

/n

- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and integration of automated tests into build and deployment processes.

/n

- Experience with Git/GitHub and Agile/Scrum methodologies.

/n

- Experience with Playwright or other UI automation tools is an added advantage.

/n /n /n Roles and Responsibilities: /n /n

- Design, develop,



and maintain scalable automation frameworks for microservices and distributed applications.

/n

- Develop automated tests for REST APIs and microservices using REST Assured or equivalent tools.

/n

- Validate end-to-end business workflows across API → Kafka → Database layers.

/n

- Develop automation for Kafka event validation, including producers, consumers, topics, partitions, offsets, and message payloads.

/n

- Validate Kafka message schemas, headers, keys, timestamps, and payload data.

/n

- Verify that events generated by one microservice are correctly consumed and processed by downstream services.

/n

- Perform database automation testing to validate data creation, updates, transformations, and persistence.

/n

- Write complex SQL queries to perform backend validation and data reconciliation.

/n

- Validate data consistency between source and target databases, APIs, Kafka messages, and downstream services.

/n

- Perform functional, integration, regression, system, and end-to-end testing of microservices.

/n

- Identify and automate critical business scenarios and high-risk integration points.

/n

- Analyze logs, Kafka messages, database records, and API responses to troubleshoot test failures and defects.

/n

- Integrate automation suites with CI/CD pipelines for continuous testing.

/n

- Develop reusable utilities, test data frameworks, reporting mechanisms, and automation components.

/n

- Define and monitor Quality Engineering metrics, automation coverage, test execution results, and defect trends.

/n

- Collaborate with developers, architects, product owners, and DevOps engineers to understand system architecture and testing requirements.

/n

- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, refinement, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.

/n

- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior QA engineers.

/n

- Continuously evaluate tools, frameworks, and best practices to improve automation efficiency and test coverage.
