S1000 D Technical Publications Consultant – Defence & Aerospace Engagement: Part time / Consulting Experience: 10+ Years Overall | 5+ Years S1000 D preferred Role Overview We are seeking an experienced S1000 D Technical Publications Consultant to provide specialist guidance on defence and aerospace documentation projects. The role will focus on S1000 D implementation, BREX, SNS, DMC, CSDB, DMRL compliance, and technical publication quality.

Key Responsibilities Lead and advise on S1000 D implementation for technical documentation projects. Develop, review, and validate BREX and customer-specific business rules. Design and structure SNS and Data Module Codes (DMC).

Advise on Data Module types, including procedural, descriptive, IPD, and fault-isolation modules. Guide CSDB setup, content management, and S1000 D workflows. Ensure compliance with DMRL, BREX, customer requirements, and S1000 D standards.

Review technical publications for S1000 D conformance, quality, and consistency. Provide guidance on applicability, ICN/graphics, Publication Modules, and version/issue management. Mentor technical authors and documentation teams on S1000 D best practices.





Liaise with clients and stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve documentation issues.

Required

Experience10+ years in technical documentation / technical publications. Solid hands-on S1000 D experience; candidates must specify years of S1000 D experience. Proven expertise in BREX, SNS, DMC, CSDB, DMRL, and applicability.

Experience with S1000 D authoring or CSDB tools. Defence, aerospace, aviation, naval, or other engineering-domain experience preferred. Solid communication and stakeholder-management skills.
