The role
This is a career-defining opportunity for an academically solid graduate to build deep expertise in RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety) and systems engineering – disciplines at the heart of every contemporary railway. You will apply rigorous analytical techniques to real safety-critical systems from day one, supporting assurance and engineering management activities across our rail projects.
Typical activities include:
• Hazard identification and analysis on new railway projects
• Failure mode analysis (FMEA/FMECA)
of railway products and systems
• Reliability assessment of new railway products and systems
• Preparing, contributing to and reviewing RAM, safety, assurance and system requirements and integration documentation, including plans and reports
• Verification and Validation (V&V;)
• System requirements management and system integration
You will be trained in the qualified tools of the discipline, including IBM DOORS, ComplyPro and Isograph Reliability Workbench (including Fault Tree+). No prior experience with these tools is expected – we will train you.
Depending on project needs, the role may involve periods based in client offices, giving you direct exposure to how major rail projects are delivered.
