Role & responsibilities
Define the overall technology architecture for Unbordered
Build the core backend and financial integration platform
Design how we connect with banks, fintechs and other financial institutions
Create reliable systems for KYC, account opening, transactions and customer data
Establish security, privacy and engineering standards
Make key technology and infrastructure decisions
Hire, mentor and lead the initial engineering team
Work closely with product and design to ship customer-facing products quickly
Ensure the platform can scale as we add more institutions, products and customers
Stay hands-on: design, code, review and build, particularly during the early stages of the company

Preferred candidate profile
8+ years of strong software engineering experience- Strong understanding of APIs, databases, distributed systems and cloud architecture
Experience designing and building large backend or platform systems
3+ years of experience leading or mentoring engineers
Ability to make pragmatic architectural decisions in an early-stage setting
Strong ownership mindset and comfort operating with ambiguity
Experience building technology in banking, payments, cards, lending, wealth, KYC or fintech infrastructure would be highly valuable
