Job Description:

Position: School Librarian

Department: Library

Job Summary:

The School Librarian will be responsible for managing the school library, maintaining books and digital resources, supporting students and teachers in accessing learning materials, and promoting reading habits among students.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and maintain the school library and its resources.

Maintain accurate records of books, journals, magazines, and other learning materials.

Handle book issue, return, renewal, and reservation processes.

Classify, catalogue, label, and arrange books systematically.

Assist students in selecting books appropriate to their age, interests, and academic needs.

Promote reading habits through reading programs, book displays, storytelling, and library activities.

Support teachers by providing relevant reference materials and educational resources.

Ensure the library is clean, organized, quiet, and student-friendly.

Monitor library usage and maintain student borrowing records.

Conduct periodic stock verification and identify damaged, missing, or outdated books.

Recommend current books and learning resources based on curriculum and student requirements.





Guide students on proper library etiquette and responsible handling of books.

Maintain digital library resources, if applicable.

Coordinate with teachers and school management for library-related activities and events.

Prepare periodic reports on library usage, stock, and activities.

Ensure compliance with school policies and safety procedures.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Library Science (B.Lib.I.Sc / M.Lib.I.Sc) preferred.

Relevant experience in a school library is preferred.

Basic computer knowledge and familiarity with library management software.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Solid organizational and record-maintenance skills.

Pay: ₹20,342.54 - ₹25,335.45 per month
