To lead procurement of metal components (steel, aluminum, brass, etc.) with strong focus on vendor development, cost optimization, quality assurance, and supply continuity for manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities1. Metal Parts Procurement
- Handle sourcing of:
- Machined components
- Sheet metal parts
- Fabrication items
- Die-cast / forged parts
- Ensure timely availability of materials as per production plan
- Develop alternate sources to reduce dependency
2. Vendor Development & Management
- Identify and develop new vendors for metal parts
- Conduct vendor audits (quality, capacity, compliance)
- Strengthen local vendor base near plant for faster supply
- Evaluate vendors based on:
- Cost competitiveness
- Quality performance
- Delivery adherence
3. Cost Control & Negotiation
- Lead price negotiations and cost reduction initiatives
- Implement:
- Should-costing
- Value engineering
- Bulk sourcing strategies
- Track market trends for steel, aluminum, etc.
4. Quality Coordination
- Work closely with QA for:
- Incoming quality issues
- Vendor corrective actions
- Ensure suppliers follow required standards
5. Supply Chain Planning
- Ensure uninterrupted supply of critical metal parts
- Maintain safety stock and inventory control
- Coordinate with production and planning teams
6. Documentation & Compliance
- Handle RFQ, PO, contracts, and agreements
- Ensure GST, statutory, and audit compliance
- Maintain vendor records and performance reports
Key Skills Required
- Strong knowledge of metal components manufacturing processes
- Vendor development expertise
- Negotiation and cost analysis skills
- Knowledge of ERP / SAP systems
- Understanding of drawings and specifications
Qualification
- BE / Diploma (Mechanical / Production)
- MBA (Supply Chain) – Preferred
Experience
- 8–15 years in metal parts procurement
- Experience in automotive / rubber / manufacturing industry preferred
