Head of Engineering – AI / ML

About the Role

We are hiring the founding Head of Engineering for a US-founded stealth startup building an AI productivity platform for architecture and engineering teams using Autodesk Revit.

Our platform indexes a firm's past projects, creates a searchable detail library, and uses AI to generate drawings, annotations, and construction details aligned with the firm's drafting standards—significantly reducing manual construction documentation work.

This is a hands-on build-and-lead role, not a traditional process-oriented Head of Engineering position. You will build and lead the India engineering organisation from Chennai or Bangalore while working closely with a US-based founding team and existing US customers.

What You'll Build

* AI-native Revit agentic pipelines that can turn an empty Revit callout into a completed construction detail for architect review and approval.
* Systems that intelligently adapt a firm's existing Revit details to live project conditions such as wall types, materials, insulation, and dimensions.
* An Intelligent Detail Library for searching and reusing details across a firm's Revit archive.
* The Detailing Assistant, taking it from architecture through production.
* Backend and agentic-AI systems designed around privacy, permissions, and secure US AEC customer data.
* A 3–4 person engineering team in Chennai/Bangalore while remaining deeply involved in architecture and development.

What We're Looking For

* 4–10 years of software engineering experience.




* Experience leading a small engineering team end to end.
* Proven experience taking a product from zero to live production with real customers.
* Solid backend engineering and hands-on ML/AI experience — ML is mandatory.
* Experience building genuine agentic AI pipelines involving multi-step planning, tool use, and real-world workflows.
* Experience building production systems where correctness and reliability matter.
* Extensive use of coding agents in your own engineering workflow.
* Strong technical ownership and ability to make architecture decisions independently.
* A hands-on engineering leader who still writes and ships production code.

This Role Isn't For You If

* Your experience is limited to prototypes, demos, or research without taking a product into production.
* You have only built prompt-to-text copilots, wrappers, or generic LLM features.
* You are a pure people/process manager and no longer want to code.
* You have less than 4 years of experience.
* You cannot work full-time onsite in Chennai or Bangalore or relocate.

How You'll Work

You'll operate as a hands-on founding engineering leader:

* Write and review production code.
* Design and build backend and AI systems.
* Lead technical discussions and architecture decisions.
* Hire and mentor a small, high-calibre engineering team.
* Work directly with the US founding team and customers.
* Operate with high ownership in a rapid-moving startup workplace.
