Teradata Database Administrator – TASM / Workload Management

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Teradata Database Administrator with robust expertise in TASM, TDWM, Teradata Viewpoint, and system-level workload management.

This position focuses specifically on workload management, resource governance, concurrency control, Priority Scheduler, TASM rulesets, and system-level performance management.

This is NOT a SQL/query-level performance tuning or indexing role.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, configure, test, and deploy TASM rulesets.
- Work with Teradata Viewpoint and Workload Designer.
- Design System, Workload, and Query Arrival Rate Throttles.
- Configure System Filters and Workload Filters.
- Define Workload Definitions and Workload Groups.
- Manage workload classification and resource allocation.
- Configure Tactical, BI, Batch/ETL, and low-priority workloads.
- Optimize Delay Queue behavior and concurrency.
- Configure Operational Environments (OpEnvs) and TASM States.




- Implement threshold triggers based on CPU, memory, AWT, and system health.
- Configure workload exceptions and automated mitigation.
- Implement actions such as workload changes, query aborts, alerts, and logging.
- Analyze DBQL and ResUsage data.
- Monitor workload distribution, delay times, CPU/IO usage, and AWT consumption.
- Identify misclassified or unmanaged workloads.
- Prepare capacity and workload-management reports.

Required Skills

- 5+ years of Teradata DBA experience.
- Expert knowledge of:
- Teradata TASM
- TDWM
- Teradata Viewpoint
- Workload Designer
- Strong understanding of Teradata architecture:
- AMP
- PE
- AWT
- BYNET
- Memory
- I/O
- Strong knowledge of DBQL and ResUsage tables.
- Experience with system-level workload management.
- Strong understanding of Priority Scheduler and resource governance.

Good to Have

- Teradata Vantage experience.
- AWS/Azure/GCP Teradata experience.
- Python, BASH, or Perl scripting.
- Experience migrating legacy TASM rulesets.

Pay: Up to ₹110,000.00 per month
