Aruna Promoters Pvt Ltd operates a specialized waterfront fabrication and heavy-engineering support facility in Cheranallur, Ernakulam. Our operations rely on an active fleet of material handling machinery, heavy transport vehicles, hydraulic lifters, mobile cranes, and workshop equipment supporting marine fabrication and shipyard projects.
We are seeking a proactive and skilled Workshop Technician with a strong background in Automobile Mechanics and Hydraulic Lifting Systems. In this role, you will be responsible for end-to-end preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis, component overhauls, and breakdown repairs across hydraulic lifters, scissor lifts, aerial platforms, forklifts, utility vehicles, and yard transport machinery to maintain zero downtime.
Key Responsibilities
1. Hydraulic Lifters & Material Handling Equipment
- Perform routine servicing, inspection, and overhauls on hydraulic lifters, scissor lifts, boom lifts, stackers, hydraulic shop cranes, and forklift lifting masts.
- Inspect, repack, and rebuild single-acting and double-acting hydraulic cylinders, replacing worn seals, wiper rings, gland packings, and piston shafts.
- Diagnose faults in hydraulic systems: inspect spool valves, directional control valves, relief valves, hydraulic gear/vane/piston pumps, flow dividers, and pressure lines.
- Measure hydraulic pressures using test gauges, bleed air from circuits, replace hydraulic fluid, clean suction strainers, and renew return-line filter cartridges.
- Detect and rectify fluid leaks, crimp/replace high-pressure hydraulic hoses, fittings, and quick-disconnect couplers.
2. Automobile & Fleet Mechanics
- Inspect, service, and repair diesel/petrol utility vehicles,
yard trucks, material pullers, and engine-driven equipment.
- Troubleshoot and overhaul major automotive subsystems:
- Powertrain & Engine: Engine oil changes, coolant systems, fuel filters, injector lines, fan belts, and intake/exhaust manifolds.
- Braking Systems: Air brake systems, hydraulic drum/disc brakes, booster units, master cylinders, wheel cylinders, and brake shoe/pad renewals.
- Steering & Suspension: Steering gearboxes, tie rods, kingpins, leaf springs, shock absorbers, and wheel hub bearings.
- Transmission & Drivetrain: Clutches, propeller shafts, universal joints, differential gearboxes, and manual transmissions.
- Perform basic auto-electrical troubleshooting, including battery health checks, alternator output testing, starter motor overhauls, wiring harness repairs, and lighting/horn circuits.
3. Breakdown Repairs & Workshop Maintenance
- Attend promptly to in office mechanical breakdowns across yard lifting equipment and work vehicles.
- Operate standard workshop machinery such as bench grinders, drill presses, hydraulic shop presses, and torque wrenches.
- Perform basic cutting and tack/patch welding (MIG/ARC) on machine frames, brackets, and sheet panels during mechanical repairs.
- Maintain clean workshop bays, secure oil storage areas, dispose of drained oils and lubricants responsibly, and enforce workshop safety standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: ITI in Mechanic Motor Vehicle (MMV) / Diesel Mechanic / Fitter trade, or a Diploma in Automobile / Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum 3+ years of hands-on mechanical maintenance experience specializing in automotive vehicle servicing and hydraulic lifting equipment.
- Key Backgrounds: Experience in heavy vehicle workshops, construction equipment maintenance (JCB, cranes, aerial lifts), or material-handling fleet workshops is strongly preferred.
