Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Manager / Deputy Manager – Pricing to manage freight forwarding pricing activities and provide commercial support to the Sales and Operations teams.

The role will be responsible for obtaining competitive freight rates, preparing accurate customer quotations, managing RFQs and tenders, negotiating with carriers and vendors, maintaining rate databases, and ensuring healthy gross margins.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage pricing requirements for Sea Freight and Air Freight, including Import, Export, FCL and LCL shipments.
- Obtain and compare rates from shipping lines, NVOCCs, airlines, overseas agents, transporters, CFS/ICD operators and other logistics vendors.
- Prepare accurate and competitive customer quotations with appropriate margins.
- Calculate logistics costs, selling rates, landed costs and gross margins.
- Ensure all applicable freight, THC, CFS, documentation, transportation, customs and other charges are considered.
- Handle urgent pricing requirements from Sales, Customer Service and Operations.
- Maintain and regularly update buying rates, selling rates and freight rate databases.
- Negotiate with carriers, vendors and overseas agents for competitive rates and commercial terms.
- Monitor freight-rate movements, surcharges, seasonal fluctuations, capacity constraints and market changes.
- Provide pricing support for RFQs, tenders, new customer acquisition and rate contracts.
- Prepare rate comparison statements and pricing models for tenders and customer requirements.
- Ensure approved margins are maintained and escalate low-margin quotations where required.




- Coordinate with Operations regarding routing, free time, transit time, service availability and additional charges.
- Resolve discrepancies between quoted rates and actual carrier/vendor charges.
- Maintain historical pricing records and relevant commercial documentation.
- Prepare MIS and reports related to quotations, RFQs, conversion, margins and rate movements.
- Guide and monitor junior pricing team members and ensure timely completion of pricing enquiries.

Required Skills

- Strong experience in Freight Forwarding Pricing.
- Good knowledge of Sea Freight, Air Freight, FCL, LCL, Import and Export processes.
- Strong understanding of freight tariffs, local charges and surcharges.
- Experience in carrier/vendor rate negotiation.
- Hands-on experience with RFQs, tenders and customer-specific pricing.
- Strong commercial, analytical and negotiation skills.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Excel and MIS reporting.
- Ability to calculate cost, selling price and gross margin accurately.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work under tight quotation deadlines.
- Good attention to detail and commercial awareness.
- Team-handling or mentoring experience will be preferred.

Qualifications

- Graduate in any discipline.




- MBA / PG Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain, International Business or Marketing will be an advantage.
- Professional certification in Freight Forwarding, Shipping or Logistics is preferred but not mandatory.

Experience

Assistant Manager: 4–7 years of relevant experience, with strong hands-on exposure to freight forwarding pricing.

Deputy Manager: 6–9 years of relevant experience in pricing, rate negotiation, RFQ/tender management and team coordination.

Candidates with solid experience in Sea Freight / Air Freight Pricing and RFQ Management will be preferred.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in freight forwarding pricing, strong commercial understanding, excellent Excel skills, and the ability to coordinate effectively with Sales, Operations, carriers, vendors and overseas agents.
