Grade 1–5 Kannada Teacher – Job Description

Position: Primary Kannada Teacher (Grades 1–5)
School: JCPRO Academy
Location: Rajanukunte, Bengaluru, Karnataka

Role Summary

To facilitate effective Kannada language learning among primary students by developing their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, while nurturing an appreciation for Kannada language, literature, culture and values.

The teacher is expected to create an engaging, child-centred learning environment where Kannada is experienced not merely as a subject but as a living language connected to everyday life, culture and the world beyond the classroom.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Teaching & Learning

- Plan and deliver age-appropriate Kannada lessons for Grades 2–5.
- Follow the prescribed curriculum while adapting teaching strategies to different learning abilities.
- Develop students' competency in:
- Listening
- Speaking
- Reading
- Writing
- Vocabulary and grammar
- Use stories, poems, conversations, role play, games, songs and activities to make Kannada learning engaging.
- Encourage students to communicate in Kannada wherever appropriate.
- Integrate technology and appropriate digital resources into teaching.

B. Student-Centred Learning

- Identify individual learning needs and provide differentiated support.
- Support students who require additional help in Kannada.
- Provide opportunities for advanced learners to develop higher-order language and literary skills.
- Encourage confidence and creativity in expressing ideas in Kannada.
- Monitor individual student progress and maintain appropriate learning records.

C. Assessment

- Conduct regular formative and summative assessments.
- Design meaningful assessments that evaluate application of language rather than rote learning alone.
- Maintain assessment records accurately.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.
- Use assessment data to modify teaching strategies and support student improvement.

3. Beyond Classroom Responsibilities

In keeping with JCPRO ACADEMY – School Beyond Classrooms, the teacher should facilitate opportunities such as:





- Kannada storytelling sessions.
- Poetry recitation and creative writing.
- Kannada reading clubs.
- Kannada theatre and role play.
- Kannada quiz and language competitions.
- Celebration and understanding of Karnataka's literature, heritage and culture.
- Local community and cultural learning experiences.
- Projects connecting Kannada with art, music, history and social studies.
- Student-led Kannada presentations and exhibitions.

4. Student Development

- Promote respect for Kannada language and Karnataka's cultural heritage.
- Develop students' communication and presentation skills.
- Encourage creativity, curiosity and independent reading.
- Help students develop confidence to use Kannada in real-life situations.
- Promote values such as respect, empathy, responsibility and collaboration through language learning.
- Act as a positive role model in behaviour, communication and professionalism.

5. Collaboration

- Work closely with the Primary School Coordinator and other subject teachers.
- Participate in interdisciplinary and project-based learning initiatives.
- Collaborate with teachers to identify students requiring academic or behavioural support.
- Contribute to school events, assemblies, exhibitions and cultural programmes.
- Share effective teaching practices and resources with colleagues.

6. Parent Communication

- Communicate student progress and areas for improvement to parents when required.
- Participate in parent-teacher meetings.
- Provide practical suggestions to parents to support Kannada reading and language development at home.
- Maintain professional and constructive communication with parents.

7. School Responsibilities

- Follow JCPRO ACADEMY policies, procedures and professional standards.




- Maintain punctuality, discipline and professional conduct.
- Participate actively in staff meetings, training and career development programmes.
- Take responsibility for assigned duties and school activities.
- Maintain classroom resources and learning materials.
- Ensure student safety and follow all safeguarding requirements.

The teacher should demonstrate:

- Strong command of Kannada language and grammar.
- Good spoken and written Kannada.
- Child-friendly and engaging teaching methods.
- Classroom management skills.
- Creativity in lesson planning.
- Ability to differentiate instruction.

- Willingness to continuously learn and improve.

9. Success Criteria

The effectiveness of the Kannada Teacher will be assessed through:

- Student learning outcomes and language proficiency.
- Improvement in reading, writing, speaking and comprehension.
- Student participation and engagement in Kannada learning.
- Quality and consistency of lesson planning and classroom practice.
- Effective use of differentiated teaching strategies.
- Student performance in internal assessments.
- Participation in Kannada, cultural and interdisciplinary activities.
- Development of a positive attitude towards Kannada language and literature.
- Parent and student feedback where appropriate.
- Contribution to the overall JCPRO ACADEMY – School Beyond Classrooms philosophy.

10. Minimum Qualification

- Bachelor's degree with Kannada as a major/subject preferred.
- B.Ed. or equivalent teacher-training qualification preferred/required as per school requirements.
- Relevant experience in teaching Kannada at the primary level will be an advantage.
- Strong proficiency in Kannada and functional proficiency in English.

Core Expectation:

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
