Assistant Store Manager

Type: Full-time
1. What This Job Is
The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for the complete day-to-day operation of the store.
You will take ownership of sales, staff, stock, customer service, billing, cash, cleanliness, product availability, wastage, store discipline, and company procedures.
You are expected to be capable of running the store independently and will be responsible for store performance during your duty.
2. Main Responsibilities
A. Sales & Store Performance
- Achieve daily and monthly store sales targets.
- Drive upselling, add-on sales, and customer conversion.
- Monitor sales throughout the day and take action when performance is below target.
- Ensure all products, promotions, and displays are properly maintained.
- Identify opportunities to improve store sales and report them to management.
B. Staff Management
- Manage and supervise the entire store team.
- Allocate duties, shifts, counters, breaks, and responsibilities.
- Ensure proper attendance, punctuality, grooming, behaviour, and discipline.
- Train and guide new and existing staff.
- Ensure sufficient manpower is available during peak periods.
- Handle staff issues and escalate serious matters when required.
C. Stock, Ordering & Wastage
- Ensure required products are available throughout the day.
- Monitor stock and place orders based on sales and expected demand.
- Verify incoming stock and report shortages, excess quantities, damages, or incorrect deliveries.
- Maintain FIFO/FEFO and expiry control.
- Control wastage and ensure wastage is properly recorded.
- Prevent unnecessary over-ordering and stock-outs.
- Maintain accurate store inventory.
D. Customer Experience
- Ensure customers receive fast, polite, and skilled service.
- Handle customer complaints and resolve them immediately wherever possible.
- Monitor service quality and staff behaviour.
- Ensure customer areas remain clean, organised, and presentable.
E. Billing, Cash & Store Controls
- Take responsibility for correct billing and cash handling.
- Monitor cash, card, UPI, discounts, refunds, and other transactions.
- Ensure opening and closing cash procedures are followed.
- Verify daily collections and report discrepancies immediately.
- Prevent billing errors and unauthorised discounts.
F. Store Operations & Standards
- Take responsibility for opening and closing the store.
- Ensure counters, displays, shelves, refrigerators, equipment, and customer areas are properly maintained.
- Ensure food safety, hygiene, grooming, and company SOPs are followed.
- Report maintenance or equipment issues and follow up until resolved.
- Coordinate with the factory, dispatch, logistics, accounts, and other departments when required.
G. Reporting & Accountability
- Complete all required daily store reports.
- Report sales, stock, wastage, manpower, customer complaints, maintenance issues,
and operational problems.
- Escalate serious issues to the Store Manager or Cluster Manager immediately.
- Ensure management instructions are implemented correctly.
3. Responsibility of the Role
The Assistant Store Manager is expected to treat the store as their responsibility during their duty.
This includes:
Sales Staff Stock Cash Billing Customer Service Ordering Wastage Cleanliness Hygiene Product Availability Store Discipline Opening & Closing Daily Reporting
Operational problems should not simply be passed to another person. The Assistant Store Manager is expected to identify the issue, take appropriate action, follow up, and ensure closure.
4. Candidate Requirements
- Experience: 2–4 years in retail, bakery, QSR, supermarket, restaurant, or similar operations.
- Previous experience as an Assistant Store Manager, Store Supervisor, Team Leader, or similar role preferred.
- Experience managing staff and store operations.
- Basic computer and POS/billing knowledge.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to take responsibility and make operational decisions.
- Willing to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.
5. Career Growth

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
