Senior Construction Project Manager

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Senior Construction Project Manager with 10+ years of experience in managing large-scale construction projects from pre-construction through completion and handover.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for overall project delivery, including planning, execution, cost control, contracts, procurement, quality, safety, manpower, subcontractor management, and client coordination. The candidate should have strong leadership skills and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Planning & Execution
- Take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of construction projects.
- Develop and implement comprehensive project execution plans, schedules, budgets, and resource requirements.
- Monitor project progress against approved timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
- Coordinate all construction activities from mobilization through completion and handover.
- Identify project constraints, dependencies, and critical activities and take corrective action.
- Ensure effective coordination between engineering, procurement, construction, QA/QC, safety, and commercial teams.
Site & Construction Management
- Lead day-to-day construction activities and ensure work is executed as per approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Manage site teams, engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, materials, equipment, and other resources.
- Monitor productivity and implement measures to improve project efficiency.
- Resolve technical and operational issues affecting project progress.
- Coordinate inspections, testing, commissioning, snagging, and final handover.
Cost & Commercial Management
- Monitor project budgets, costs, cash flow, and forecasts.
- Control project expenditure and identify opportunities for cost optimization.
- Review and manage subcontractor and vendor performance.
- Coordinate with the commercial/contracts team regarding variations, claims, extensions of time, and contractual matters.
- Ensure proper measurement, certification, billing, and payment processes.
- Review project financial performance and provide regular reports to senior management.
Contracts & Subcontractor Management
- Manage relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Review contractual obligations and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Monitor subcontractor performance against agreed scope, schedule, cost, and quality.
- Support negotiation and resolution of contractual and commercial issues.
- Ensure timely closure of variations, claims, and disputes.
Quality & Safety
- Ensure construction activities comply with approved quality standards, specifications, drawings, and applicable regulations.
- Work closely with the QA/QC team to ensure quality assurance and control processes are followed.
- Promote a strong health, safety, and environmental (HSE) culture across the project.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures, permits, inspections, and statutory requirements.
- Take immediate corrective action on quality or safety issues.
Stakeholder & Client Management
- Act as the primary project-level point of contact for clients and key stakeholders.
- Conduct regular project review meetings with clients, consultants, and internal leadership.
- Present project progress, risks, costs, schedules, and recovery plans to senior management.
- Maintain solid relationships with clients and ensure timely resolution of concerns.
- Coordinate with local authorities and statutory agencies wherever required.
Reporting & Risk Management
- Prepare and review weekly and monthly project progress reports.
- Monitor project risks, issues, delays, and dependencies and develop mitigation/recovery plans.
- Track project KPIs including progress, productivity, cost, quality, safety, and schedule performance.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and records.
- Drive lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering / Construction Management or related discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in construction project management, with proven experience handling large and complex projects.
- Strong experience in managing complete project lifecycle from planning and mobilization to execution, commissioning, and handover.
- Proven experience managing site teams, subcontractors, consultants, vendors, and multiple stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, project planning, contracts, cost control, and project execution.
- Hands-on experience with project scheduling and monitoring tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, BOQs, measurements, and project documentation.
- Good understanding of construction contracts, variations, claims, and commercial management.
- Strong knowledge of quality management and HSE requirements.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP / PMI, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification.
- Primavera P6 certification or strong practical experience.
- Experience in [Commercial Buildings / Residential / Industrial / Infrastructure / Data Centers / Roads & Highways – specify].
- Experience handling projects with significant budgets and large multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience with EPC / Design & Build / Turnkey projects.
- Strong understanding of applicable local construction regulations and statutory approvals.
