Position: Maintenance Manager – Heat Treatment

Reporting To: Plant Head / Head – Engineering & Maintenance

Job Purpose

Responsible for the overall maintenance, reliability, and availability of Heat Treatment Plant equipment and utilities, ensuring minimum breakdowns, safe operations, and optimum equipment performance.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan and manage preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities for heat treatment equipment.
- Handle maintenance of furnaces, quenching systems, washing machines, tempering furnaces, shot blasting equipment, conveyors, cooling systems, pumps, compressors, and other HT equipment.
- Ensure maximum machine availability and minimum breakdown/downtime.
- Prepare and monitor PM schedules, maintenance plans, checklists, and maintenance records.
- Analyse recurring breakdowns and implement Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Actions.
- Manage electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC, instrumentation, and utility-related maintenance.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, Tool Room, and Engineering teams to resolve equipment-related issues.
- Monitor MTBF, MTTR, breakdown hours, machine availability, and maintenance KPIs.
- Control maintenance spares, critical components, consumables, and inventory.
- Coordinate with external vendors and service providers for specialized equipment maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures, statutory requirements, LOTO, and preventive safety practices.
- Lead and develop the maintenance team through training, skill development, and performance monitoring.
- Support new machine installation, commissioning, modification, and automation projects.
- Identify opportunities for energy saving,



cost reduction, and equipment improvement.
- Prepare maintenance MIS and present performance reports to management.

Heat Treatment Equipment Knowledge

Candidate should preferably have experience in:

- Continuous / Batch Heat Treatment Furnaces
- Carburizing / Case Hardening
- Gas / Electric Furnaces
- Quenching & Tempering Systems
- Washing Machines
- Shot Blasting Machines
- Endo Gas / Exo Gas systems
- Gas generators and atmosphere control systems
- Cooling towers, chillers and compressors
- Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- PLC, sensors, VFD and industrial automation

Qualification

- B.E./B.Tech – Mechanical / Electrical / Mechatronics
- Diploma candidates with strong relevant experience may also be considered.

Experience

- 8–15 years of overall maintenance experience.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Heat Treatment / Automotive Component manufacturing preferred.
- Experience in handling a maintenance team is mandatory.
