Global eBrand (part of A.N. Associates)

Night Shift: 6:30 PM – 3:30 AM IST

ABOUT GLOBAL EBRAND

Global eBrand builds and operates 50+ D2C e-commerce stores selling primarily to customers in the US and Canada.

We test products quickly, eliminate products that don't work, and scale the products that do. Our sourcing team plays a critical role in identifying reliable Chinese suppliers, negotiating competitive costs, maintaining product quality, and ensuring our winning products stay in stock.

This is a hands-on D2C product sourcing role. You will work directly with Chinese suppliers and manufacturers and will be responsible for taking a product from initial sourcing through sampling, costing, negotiation, shipping, and replenishment.

THE ROLE

We are looking for someone who has 2–4 years of hands-on product sourcing experience for D2C/e-commerce brands, preferably sourcing products from China for US/Canadian or other Western markets.

You should already be comfortable finding products and suppliers on platforms such as Alibaba and 1688, communicating with suppliers through WeChat, WhatsApp and email, negotiating pricing, calculating landed costs, arranging samples, and evaluating whether a product can be profitable at scale.

This is not a general procurement or traditional import/export role. We specifically need someone who understands e-commerce product sourcing and D2C unit economics.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

1. Source Products & Chinese Suppliers

- Source products based on D2C product briefs and market opportunities.
- Identify 3–5 credible Chinese suppliers/manufacturers for each product.
- Primarily use Alibaba, 1688, Global Sources, sourcing agents and direct manufacturer relationships.
- Compare supplier pricing, MOQ, lead time, customization options, packaging and production capabilities.
- Evaluate suppliers and recommend the best option rather than simply providing a list of suppliers.

2. Manage Samples

- Request and coordinate product samples from Chinese suppliers.
- Negotiate sample pricing and shipping costs.
- Track samples from order to delivery.
- Compare the physical product against supplier specifications, product listings, images and claims used by our D2C stores.
- Identify quality or product discrepancies before a product is scaled.

3. Calculate Landed Cost & Product Economics

You will be expected to understand the complete cost of getting a product to our customer, including:

- Product/unit cost
- Packaging
- International shipping
- Freight
- Duties/taxes where applicable
- Payment/transaction fees
- Other relevant sourcing and fulfilment costs

Maintain accurate landed-cost calculations and use them to determine whether products can achieve our required margins.

4. Negotiate With Chinese Suppliers

- Negotiate product pricing directly with suppliers/manufacturers.
- Communicate confidently through WeChat, WhatsApp and email.
- Negotiate:

- Unit price
- MOQ
- Volume discounts
- Payment terms
- Packaging costs
- Sample costs
- Shipping terms
- Production lead times

- Re-negotiate pricing as order volumes increase.
- Look for opportunities to reduce costs without compromising product quality.

5. Shipping & Logistics

- Compare express, air freight and sea freight based on product margins, order volume and urgency.
- Work with freight forwarders, sourcing agents and suppliers to coordinate shipments.
- Understand basic international shipping terms such as EXW, FOB and DDP.
- Track production and shipping timelines to prevent delays.

6. Supplier & Quality Management

- Maintain a database/scorecard of suppliers based on:

- Price
- Quality
- Communication
- Lead time
- Reliability
- Defect rate

- Monitor product quality and supplier performance.
- Identify a backup supplier for every scaled/winning product.
- Escalate supplier issues before they affect customers or revenue.

7. Inventory & Stock Planning

- Coordinate sourcing and replenishment based on expected sales and advertising plans.
- Monitor stock levels and supplier lead times.
- Ensure winning products do not go out of stock.
- Avoid unnecessary inventory on products that are no longer performing.

8. Product & Compliance Risk

- Identify potential counterfeit, trademark, copyright or IP issues before purchasing.
- Flag products that may require safety certifications or regulatory approvals for US/Canadian markets.
- Avoid suppliers/products that create unnecessary legal or compliance risks.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

Within your first 6 months, you should be able to:

- Get products from brief to sample in hand within 14 days, consistently.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date landed costs for active products.
- Achieve 10%+ cost reductions on selected high-volume products.
- Maintain reliable supplier communication and follow-up.
- Prevent stockouts on actively advertised winning products.
- Maintain a backup supplier for every scaled product.
- Build a reliable network of Chinese suppliers/manufacturers for our D2C portfolio.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Must Have

- 2–4 years of hands-on product sourcing experience for D2C/e-commerce brands.
- Strong experience sourcing products from China.
- Practical experience using Alibaba and/or 1688 to find Chinese suppliers/manufacturers.

- Experience sourcing products for US, Canada, UK, Australia or other Western markets.
- Experience negotiating directly with Chinese suppliers.
- Comfortable communicating with suppliers through WeChat, WhatsApp and email.
- Experience handling product samples, MOQ, pricing, lead times and supplier negotiations.
- Robust understanding of landed cost, product margins and unit economics.
- Working knowledge of EXW, FOB and DDP.
- Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills.
- Ability to independently compare suppliers and make a sourcing recommendation.
- Strong follow-up and ownership — you don't wait for suppliers to respond; you chase them.

Strong Preference For Candidates Who Have Worked With:

- D2C brands
- Shopify/e-commerce businesses
- Private-label products
- China-based manufacturers
- Alibaba / 1688
- Sourcing agents in China
- US/Canada e-commerce businesses
- 3PLs and fulfilment centres
- Product testing and winning-product models
- High-volume e-commerce purchasing

NICE TO HAVE

- Existing relationships with Chinese suppliers or sourcing agents.
- Experience with private-label/custom-branded products.
- Experience negotiating custom packaging and branding.
- Experience with US/Canada 3PLs.
- Experience sourcing products for multiple D2C stores.
- Experience working with rapidly changing product portfolios.
- Familiarity with Shopify or other e-commerce platforms.
- Experience using AI tools for supplier/product research.

WHO THIS ROLE IS NOT FOR

This role may not be a good fit if your experience is primarily in:

- Traditional corporate procurement
- Manufacturing procurement without e-commerce exposure
- Raw-material purchasing
- Local Indian procurement only
- General import/export documentation
- Purchase order processing
- Vendor management without product sourcing responsibility

We need someone who has personally sourced finished consumer products from Chinese suppliers for e-commerce/D2C businesses.

WORKING SETUP

- Fully remote
- India-based
- Full-time
- Night shift: 6:30 PM – 3:30 AM IST
- Regular communication with suppliers in China and internal teams in North America
- Reliable internet connection and backup connectivity required
- Some flexibility may be required to communicate with suppliers outside standard working hours

HOW TO APPLY

Apply with your CV.

Shortlisted candidates will go through:

1. Short introductory interview
2. Practical sourcing assignment – you will be given a real D2C product brief and asked to find Chinese suppliers, compare costs, calculate landed cost and recommend the best supplier.
3. Final interview with the founder

We hire based on what you can actually do, not just what is written on your CV.

If you have hands-on experience sourcing consumer products from Chinese suppliers for D2C/e-commerce brands, we would like to hear from you.
