Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and result-oriented Logistics Manager to manage and oversee a fleet of 100+ Dry and Refrigerated (Reefer) Vehicles. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in fleet management, route planning, vehicle deployment, driver management, maintenance coordination, compliance, cost control, and ensuring timely delivery of consignments.

The candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient, safe, compliant, and cost-effective fleet operations while maintaining high vehicle utilization and service levels.

Key Responsibilities

1. Fleet Management

- Manage day-to-day operations of 100+ dry and refrigerated vehicles.
- Ensure optimum vehicle utilization, availability, and deployment.
- Monitor vehicle movement, trip status, turnaround time, and delivery performance.
- Plan vehicle allocation based on operational requirements and delivery schedules.
- Minimize vehicle idle time, detention, empty running, and unnecessary operational costs.

2. Reefer / Cold Chain Operations

- Ensure proper operation and monitoring of refrigerated vehicles.
- Maintain required temperature conditions throughout transportation.
- Monitor reefer temperature records, deviations, and corrective actions.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance and breakdown management for refrigeration units.
- Ensure compliance with customer-specific cold-chain requirements.

3. Route & Trip Planning

- Plan efficient routes considering distance, delivery schedules, vehicle capacity, road conditions, and customer requirements.
- Monitor real-time vehicle movement through GPS/tracking systems.
- Ensure timely reporting of delays, breakdowns, diversions, and other operational issues.
- Improve fleet turnaround time and on-time delivery performance.

4. Driver & Manpower Management

- Manage drivers, helpers, and other fleet-related manpower.




- Ensure proper driver allocation and attendance.
- Monitor driver performance, discipline, safety, and compliance.
- Conduct regular briefings regarding safety, route discipline, documentation, and customer requirements.
- Address driver-related operational issues and grievances.

5. Vehicle Maintenance

- Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance of the fleet.
- Maintain proper service schedules and maintenance records.
- Work closely with workshops, vendors, and service providers.
- Monitor vehicle downtime and ensure quick restoration of vehicles.
- Control maintenance costs without compromising vehicle safety and reliability.

6. Documentation & Statutory Compliance

- Ensure timely renewal and availability of vehicle-related documents such as:

- Registration

- Insurance

- Fitness certificates

- Permits

- Pollution certificates

- Road tax

- Other applicable statutory documents
- Ensure compliance with applicable transportation, safety, and regulatory requirements.

7. Cost Control & MIS

- Monitor fuel consumption, maintenance expenses, tolls, trip expenses, and other fleet operating costs.
- Identify opportunities for reducing logistics costs.
- Prepare and review daily/weekly/monthly fleet MIS.
- Track key performance indicators such as:

- Vehicle utilization

- Fuel efficiency

- Cost per km
- On-time delivery

- Vehicle downtime

- Empty running

- Trip turnaround time

- Breakdown frequency
- Present operational performance reports to management.

8. Vendor & Customer Coordination

- Coordinate with transport vendors, workshops, fuel stations, GPS providers, and other service partners.
- Manage outsourced vehicles wherever applicable.




- Coordinate with customers and internal teams to resolve delivery and transportation-related issues.
- Ensure service levels and customer commitments are maintained.

Required Skills

- Strong knowledge of fleet and logistics operations.
- Proven experience handling 100+ commercial vehicles, preferably including reefer/cold-chain vehicles.
- Strong knowledge of route planning and transportation operations.
- Experience with GPS/fleet tracking and transportation management systems.
- Good understanding of vehicle maintenance and fleet costing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent manpower and driver management capabilities.
- Strong negotiation and vendor-management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle emergency operational situations.
- Valuable knowledge of MS Excel and preparation of MIS reports.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.

Preferred Candidate Profile

- Graduate in any discipline; qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transport Management, or Operations will be an advantage.
- 15+ years of relevant experience in fleet/logistics operations.
- Candidates with experience in FMCG, Food, Poultry, Cold Chain, Distribution, or 3PL logistics will be preferred.
- Candidates who have independently managed a large fleet of 100+ vehicles will be given preference.

What We Expect

We are looking for a hands-on Logistics Manager, not just an administrative coordinator. The candidate should be capable of independently managing large-scale fleet operations, taking quick operational decisions, controlling logistics costs, managing drivers and vendors, and ensuring uninterrupted transportation operations.
