nJob Purpose
nThe Training and Placement Officer (TPO) will serve as the strategic bridge between the institute, students, and the food industry. The candidate will lead corporate relations, campus recruitment drives, industry-institute partnerships, and pre-placement readiness training tailored to students pursuing B.Tech, M.Tech, and Ph.D. degrees in Food Technology.
nKey Responsibilities
n1. Campus Recruitment & Placement Management
nPlan, execute, and oversee end-to-end placement drives (On-Campus, Off-Campus, and Pooled campus recruitment).
nActively prospect, engage, and onboard leading national and multinational companies across the FMCG, Food Processing, Dairy, Beverage, Quality Assurance, and Agritech sectors.
nAchieve baseline and stretch targets for student placement percentage, median package, and top-tier company participation.
nCoordinate summer internships, winter projects, and industrial visits for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
n2. Corporate Relations & Industry Networking
nEstablish, maintain, and expand strategic partnerships with industry HR leaders, R&D; heads, and plant managers in the food sector.
nNegotiate and finalize MoUs (Memorandums of Understanding) for industrial training, joint research projects, guest lectures, and student internships.
nParticipate in trade fairs, food tech expos, industry roundtables, and corporate meets to build the MIT School of Food Technology brand.
n3. Student Skill Development & Career Guidance
nIdentify skill gaps in current cohorts in alignment with evolving food industry standards (e.g., FSSAI compliance, ISO/HACCP certifications, automation, product development).
nOrganize specialized soft-skills training, resume-building workshops, technical mock interviews, group discussions, and aptitude prep modules.
nProvide personalized career counseling to align student career paths (R&D;, QA/QC, Production Management, Supply Chain, Regulatory Affairs).
n4. Operations & Alumni Engagement
nMaintain up-to-date databases of student profiles, company contacts, recruitment records, salary packages, and alumni networks.
nLeverage the Alumni network to generate job leads, mentorship opportunities, and industry referrals.
nPrepare placement reports, brochures, statistics, and presentation decks for institutional leadership and accreditation bodies (e.g., NAAC, NBA).
nRequired Qualifications & Eligibility
nEducation (Mandatory)
nUndergraduate: B.Tech / B.E. in Food Technology (or Food Process Engineering / Food Science & Technology).
nPostgraduate: MBA / PGDM (Specialization in Marketing, HR, General Management, or Agribusiness Management).
nExperience
nMinimum Experience: 3 to 7 years of combined academic placement, corporate HR, or business development experience.
nPreferred Experience: Direct hands-on experience handling placements for Food Technology, or related allied domain students will be strongly preferred.
nKey Competencies & Technical Skills
nIndustry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the Indian and global food processing ecosystem (FMCG, Agritech, Dairy, Cold Chain, Packaging, Quality Control).
nCorporate Network: An established network of HR contacts and talent acquisition managers in food and FMCG firms.
nCommunication Skills: Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and negotiation skills.
nLeadership & Event Management: Proven ability to organize large-scale recruitment drives, seminars, and corporate guest sessions.
nData & Tools: Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, CRM systems, and LinkedIn Talent Insights for corporate outreach.
