UNIMIG is looking for an experienced Technical Team Leader with 10+ years of software engineering experience to lead the technical development of our modern headless e-commerce ecosystem.

The ideal candidate will be a strong hands-on software engineer and technical leader with experience across backend, frontend, CMS, databases and enterprise integrations.

You will take technical ownership of our MedusaJS, Next.js/React, Directus CMS/DAM, PostgreSQL, Typesense and Odoo ERP ecosystem, while leading and mentoring the engineering team.

This is a hands-on leadership role. The successful candidate should be comfortable designing architecture, writing and reviewing production code, debugging complex issues, making technical decisions and leading developers toward high-quality delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

- Lead and mentor frontend, backend and CMS developers.
- Own overall technical architecture and engineering standards.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure high-quality, scalable and maintainable code.
- Make architectural and technology decisions across the platform.
- Translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Break complex requirements into technical tasks and development plans.
- Identify and resolve technical blockers.
- Manage technical debt and establish continuous improvement practices.
- Work closely with management, product and business teams on technical priorities.
- Take ownership of technical delivery, system stability and engineering quality.

MedusaJS & Backend Engineering
- Architect and develop the headless e-commerce backend using MedusaJS, Node.js and TypeScript.
- Build custom commerce functionality, APIs, workflows and services.
- Review and improve existing backend architecture and codebases.
- Design scalable and reliable backend services.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues across distributed systems.

PostgreSQL & Data Architecture
- Own PostgreSQL database architecture, relational models and data integrity.
- Design and manage database schema migrations.
- Implement safe migration strategies with minimal downtime.
- Optimize database queries, indexing and overall database performance.




- Ensure transactional consistency and prevent data loss across deployments.

ERP & Enterprise Integrations
- Own integrations between Medusa/e-commerce systems and Odoo ERP.
- Design and develop REST and XML-RPC integrations.
- Build reliable synchronization between e-commerce and enterprise systems.
- Design robust webhook processing and asynchronous workflows.
- Implement retries, logging, monitoring and dead-letter/reprocessing mechanisms.
- Investigate and eliminate synchronization failures and data gaps.

Directus CMS & DAM
- Own the technical architecture of Directus CMS and DAM.
- Design collections, relationships and relational content structures.
- Manage Directus schema snapshots and migrations.
- Establish standardized content models and metadata structures.
- Integrate Directus APIs with Next.js/React applications.
- Ensure consistency between CMS models, APIs and frontend implementations.

Next.js / React Frontend
- Lead the development and architecture of high-performance storefronts using Next.js, React and TypeScript.
- Review frontend architecture and code quality.
- Establish clean API and CMS integration patterns.
- Troubleshoot visual regressions and frontend production issues.
- Ensure consistent, scalable and responsive user experiences.

Performance & Core Web Vitals
- Own application performance across global storefronts.
- Optimize LCP, CLS and INP.
- Improve image and asset delivery through WebP/AVIF, CDN and caching strategies.
- Optimize frontend rendering, APIs, caching and asset loading.
- Identify and resolve application performance bottlenecks.

Testing & Quality
- Establish automated testing standards across frontend and backend.
- Implement and maintain Visual Regression Testing using Playwright, Percy, Applitools or similar tools.
- Establish unit,



integration, API and end-to-end testing practices.
- Improve CI/CD quality gates and deployment processes.
- Ensure releases do not introduce functional, visual or performance regressions.

Search
- Own and optimize Typesense search capabilities.
- Manage synonyms, filtering, sorting and indexing strategies.
- Establish reliable product re-indexing and synchronization processes.
- Troubleshoot search relevance and performance issues.

Required Experience
- 10+ years of professional software development experience.
- Proven experience leading technical teams or acting as a Technical Lead/Engineering Lead.
- Robust hands-on experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
- Strong experience with React and Next.js.
- Production experience with MedusaJS or another headless e-commerce platform.
- Hands-on experience with Directus or a comparable headless CMS.
- Strong PostgreSQL and database architecture experience.
- Experience designing and managing complex database migrations.
- Strong experience building REST APIs and enterprise integrations.
- Experience with ERP integrations such as Odoo, SAP or NetSuite.
- Experience with webhooks, asynchronous processing and distributed systems.
- Experience with Typesense, Elasticsearch, Algolia or similar search technologies.
- Understanding of Core Web Vitals and modern web performance optimization.
- Experience with automated testing and Visual Regression Testing.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent code review and technical documentation skills.
- Proven ability to mentor and technically develop engineering teams.
