Role Overview

We are looking for a hands-on Technical Lead Digital Tagging & Privacy Platforms to lead the technical implementation, governance, and ongoing evolution of an enterprise digital tagging, analytics, and privacy ecosystem.

The role will primarily focus on Tealium, with responsibility across client-side and server-side tagging, digital data collection, consent management, and modern commerce platforms including Shopify/Shopify Plus.

Candidates with strong hands-on experience in other enterprise Tag Management Systems such as Google Tag Manager, Adobe Experience Platform Tags/Launch, Ensighten, mParticle, or similar platforms will also be considered, provided they have strong server-side tagging and digital analytics expertise.

Key Responsibilities

1. Tag Management & Server-Side Data Collection

- Act as a hands-on technical lead for the enterprise tagging ecosystem, primarily using Tealium.
- Design, configure, implement, and troubleshoot client-side and server-side tagging solutions.
- Develop scalable event collection, transformation, and routing patterns across websites, commerce platforms, analytics, advertising, and media destinations.
- Define and govern data-layer standards, event schemas, naming conventions, and reusable tagging patterns.
- Implement integrations with platforms such as GA4, Google Ads, Meta, and other analytics/media platforms.
- Determine appropriate client-side versus server-side implementation patterns based on performance, privacy, reliability, and business requirements.
- Implement monitoring and validation mechanisms to identify missing, duplicated, incorrectly mapped, or incorrectly routed events.
- Troubleshoot end-to-end data flows across browsers, servers, tag management platforms, APIs, and downstream destinations.

2. Shopify / Shopify Plus Tagging

- Lead technical tagging implementations across Shopify and Shopify Plus environments.
- Implement digital behavioral and ecommerce event tracking, including:

- Product views

- Product interactions
- Add-to-cart

- Cart activity

- Checkout

- Purchase/conversion events
- Work with Shopify's modern tagging architecture, including Customer Events, Web Pixels, and checkout extensibility.
- Design and implement custom events and integrations where standard Shopify events do not meet business requirements.
- Partner with commerce engineering teams to ensure Shopify events are accurately captured, processed, and routed through the tagging ecosystem.
- Ensure ecommerce data is consistent and reliable across analytics and marketing platforms.

3. Consent Management & Cookie Privacy





- Support the technical implementation and ongoing management of OneTrust Cookie Consent / Consent Management Platform (CMP).
- Integrate OneTrust consent signals with Tealium and downstream analytics, advertising, and marketing technologies.
- Ensure client-side tags and server-side integrations execute according to the appropriate consent state and privacy requirements.
- Support cookie classification, consent categories, preference management, and consent-state propagation.
- Partner with Privacy, Legal, Security, and business teams to translate privacy requirements into effective technical controls.
- Troubleshoot issues related to consent signals, cookie behavior, tag firing, and privacy enforcement.

4. Technical Leadership & Governance

- Establish technical standards and reusable implementation patterns for tagging, event collection, data layers, and consent management.
- Provide technical direction and code/configuration reviews for implementations delivered by internal teams and external partners.
- Act as the technical escalation point for complex tagging, analytics, and consent-related issues.
- Lead troubleshooting across website, Shopify, Tealium, OneTrust, APIs, and downstream platforms.
- Establish QA, testing, monitoring, and validation practices for digital data collection.
- Maintain technical architecture documents, implementation standards, specifications, and operational documentation.
- Promote scalable, maintainable, secure, and privacy-aware digital data collection practices.

Required Experience & Technical Skills

- 7+ years of experience in digital analytics implementation, tagging, web engineering, marketing technology, or related technical disciplines.
- Strong hands-on experience with an enterprise Tag Management System (TMS) such as:

- Tealium

- Google Tag Manager
- Adobe Experience Platform Tags / Launch

- Ensighten
- mParticle

- Similar enterprise platforms
- Strong experience designing and implementing server-side tagging or server-side event collection.

- Strong knowledge of

- JavaScript

- APIs

- JSON

- HTTP/network requests

- Browser developer tools/debugging

- Web technologies
- Experience designing and implementing data layers and event-driven tracking architectures.
- Hands-on experience with Shopify / Shopify Plus tagging and ecommerce event collection.
- Experience implementing or integrating a Consent Management Platform (CMP) such as OneTrust.

- Experience with Shopify Customer Events, Web Pixels, and checkout extensibility.
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or another major cloud platform.
- Experience implementing server-side events with Google, Meta, and other advertising/media platforms.
- Experience supporting large-scale, multi-brand, or multi-region digital ecosystems.

What Success Looks Like Success in this role will be measured by the quality, reliability, scalability, observability, and privacy compliance of digital data collection, rather than simply the implementation of individual tags.

- Improve the reliability and scalability of client-side and server-side event collection.
- Strengthen OneTrust-based consent enforcement across digital properties.
- Establish reliable and standardized tagging across Shopify/Shopify Plus and other digital platforms.
- Reduce data-quality issues such as missing, duplicated, or incorrectly routed events.
- Build scalable tagging and event architectures that support analytics, marketing, advertising, and business requirements.
- Establish strong technical governance, documentation, QA, and troubleshooting practices.
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor for tagging, analytics, commerce, and privacy-related initiatives.
