About the role

Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced System Architect / System Designer to lead the architecture and development of control firmware for utility-scale PV inverters and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) PCS. The role will own the control-system architecture from system requirements and control strategy through implementation, validation, and field deployment, working closely with power electronics, hardware, system engineering, and grid-integration teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Define system and firmware architecture for MW-class PV inverters and BESS PCS.
- Develop and implement control strategies for Grid-Following (GFL) and Grid-Forming (GFM) converters.
- Define hierarchical control architecture including current control, voltage control, DC-link control, PLL/synchronization, power control and grid-support functions.
- Design firmware architecture for active/reactive power control, voltage/frequency control, droop control, virtual impedance, black start and islanding operation, as applicable.
- Develop control functions for BESS PCS including charge/discharge control, SOC-based power limitation, grid support and operating-mode management.
- Develop PV inverter control functions including MPPT, DC-link control, active/reactive power control and grid-code compliance.
- Define state machines, operating modes, protection coordination, fault handling and system-level sequencing.
- Translate grid-code and customer requirements into software/system requirements and control specifications.
- Design interfaces between DSP/MCU control firmware, FPGA, gate drivers, sensing, protection and supervisory controllers.
- Lead implementation of real-time control algorithms on DSP/MCU/SoC platforms.
- Perform simulation and control validation using MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, PSCAD, or equivalent tools.
- Develop and execute MIL/SIL/HIL validation strategies for converter control systems.
- Support grid-code testing, certification, FAT/SAT and field commissioning.
- Analyze field issues and drive root-cause analysis, corrective actions and firmware improvements.
- Establish reusable control software architecture and common platforms across PV inverter and BESS PCS products.




- Mentor firmware engineers and provide technical leadership for control-system development.

Firmware / Software Skills

- Strong experience in embedded C/C++
- Real-time control firmware development
- DSP/MCU-based power converter control
- Familiarity with TI C2000, ARM, DSP/SoC or equivalent platforms
- RTOS concepts and real-time scheduling
- CAN, Modbus, Ethernet and other industrial communication protocols
- Firmware diagnostics, fault management and event logging
- Version control and structured software development practices

System-Level Skills The candidate should be capable of moving from: Grid/Application Requirement System Architecture Control Architecture Algorithm Firmware Implementation HIL Validation Hardware Testing Grid Compliance Field Deployment

This system-level ownership is a key requirement of the position.





Simulation & Validation

Hands-on experience with one or more of:

- MATLAB/Simulink
- PLECS
- PSCAD
- Typhoon HIL / OPAL-RT / dSPACE
- HIL-based controller validation
- Control-loop stability analysis
- Small-signal analysis
- Frequency-domain analysis
- Grid interaction and impedance analysis

Standards / Grid Codes Valuable understanding of relevant standards and grid-code requirements such as:

- IEEE 1547
- IEEE 519
- IEC 62477
- IEC 62109
- UL 1741
- Applicable Indian, European, Australian or other international grid codes

Qualification

- B.E./B.Tech/M.E./M.Tech in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Power Systems, Control Systems or related discipline.
- 510 years of relevant industry experience in power converter control firmware/system design.
- Strong preference for candidates with direct experience in MW-class PV inverter, BESS PCS, STATCOM, wind converter or similar grid-connected power converters.

Preferred Experience Candidates with experience in the following will be highly preferred:

- 1 MW+ PV central/string inverter platforms
- 1 MW+ BESS PCS
- Grid-forming PCS
- Utility-scale renewable-energy systems
- Microgrid controllers and energy-management interfaces
- PPC/EMS integration
- Grid-code certification and compliance testing
- Field commissioning of utility-scale converters

Key Deliverables The successful candidate will be expected to independently deliver:

1. Control-system architecture for new MW-class converter platforms.
2. Firmware architecture and control specifications.
3. Control algorithms for PV inverter and BESS PCS.
4. GFM/GFL operating modes and transitions.
5. Protection, fault-management and operating-state architecture.
6. Simulation models and HIL validation strategy.
7. Grid-code implementation and compliance support.
8. Reusable control software platform for future PV / BESS / Microgrid products.

Success Profile The ideal candidate is not only an embedded firmware engineer, but a power-converter control architect who understands the complete chain from grid requirements and power-electronics topology to control algorithms, real-time firmware, HIL validation and field performance
