Position: Staff Backend Engineer – Python / SQL / Data-Intensive Systems

nWe are looking for a Senior Staff Backend Engineer to own the core computation services powering a data-intensive financial and operational platform. This is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on building correct, reproducible, traceable, and auditable computation systems not dashboards or LLM wrappers.

nRole:

- Own backend services performing complex financial and operational computations
n
- Build reusable, configuration-driven computation components and rules engines
n
- Design high-performance, set-based computation using advanced SQL
n
- Ensure every result is reconcilable, reproducible, and traceable to source
n
- Build configuration runtimes that enable new domains/use cases without bespoke code paths
n
- Implement guardrails, audit logging, lineage, feature controls, and confidence signals
n
- Design for multi-tenant, multi-cloud and customer-hosted deployments with strong isolation
n
- Set engineering patterns, review designs and mentor backend engineers
n
- Partner with Data, AI and Product teams to translate complex domain logic into scalable services

- Python | SQL | Snowflake | PostgreSQL | Docker | Kubernetes | Terraform

- Experience with configuration-driven/rules-engine architectures and large-scale data computation is highly valued.

nExperience:

n

- 8+ years of backend engineering experience with significant Staff/Senior Staff-level ownership
n
- Robust expertise in Python, Go, Java or similar backend technologies
n
- Elite SQL skills — window functions, complex joins, data modeling and performance optimization
n
- Proven experience building data-intensive, configuration-driven service architectures
n
- Strong system design expertise across reliability, scalability, isolation and reproducibility
n
- Deep focus on correctness, testing, traceability and auditability
n

nGood to have Experience with financial/accounting systems, regulated environments, dbt, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, multi-tenant SaaS, customer-hosted platforms, ML/statistical workflows or LLM integrations.

nYou'll own the engineering layer behind numbers that may sit alongside externally reported financials. Correctness is non-negotiable: every result must be explainable, reproducible and auditable.
