Harness & Electromechanical Components Specialist

Position Overview

We are seeking a talented Harness Developer to own the end-to-end design, validation, and integration of wire harness and electromechanical components for our cutting-edge consumer appliance products, . In this critical role, you will own the full lifecycle of harness development—from concept to defect-free production—while collaborating with suppliers to ensure the highest standards of quality and reliability are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities

- Harness Design and Development Design, route, and package appliance wire harnesses, specifying wire gauges, insulation types, shielding, protective sleeving, labels, and termination methods aligned to product electrical loads, environmental conditions, and assembly constraints.

- Connector and Crimp Ownership Select and specify connector families and terminals, define plating and material requirements, establish crimp barrel types, set pull-force and resistance criteria, and release validated crimping parameters and crimp-quality controls (e.g., cross-section, bellmouth, insulation support) into production documentation.

- Supplier Collaboration and Validation Co-develop product and process validation plans with harness suppliers, define incoming and in-process quality controls, qualify tooling and applicators, and oversee setup of crimping, pull-force, continuity, hipot/insulation resistance, and functional test stations at supplier sites to ensure defect-free supply.

- Integration and Testing Partner with mechanical, electrical, firmware, and manufacturing teams to integrate harnesses with motors, pumps, valves, fans,

heaters, sensors, and HMI modules; execute DV/PV plans including thermal, vibration, humidity, salt-mist (as applicable), flex/bend life, ingress, and electrical safety tests.

- Documentation and Release Create and maintain harness drawings, schematics, connector and terminal specifications, crimp parameter sheets, test plans/reports, control plans, PFMEAs, work instructions, and fully itemized BOMs; manage engineering change through formal release processes.

- Component Lifecycle Ownership Own electromechanical parts including connectors, terminals, seals, backshells, clips, grommets, strain reliefs, fuses, and protection elements; drive cost, reliability, and availability through value engineering and alternate qualifications.

- Quality and Problem Solving Lead root cause analysis for field and factory defects such as intermittent opens, high contact resistance, terminal back-out, fretting corrosion, insulation damage, and EMI/ESD anomalies; implement corrective and preventive actions with measurable yield and DPPM improvements.

- Compliance and Safety Ensure designs comply with applicable standards and directives for consumer appliances and materials (e.g., UL/IEC safety, creepage/clearance, RoHS/REACH, IP ratings, flame retardancy),

and meet internal electrical safety and reliability requirements.

- Manufacturing Enablement Define harness assembly sequence, ergonomic fixtures, cut/strip/crimp parameters, applicator maintenance schedules, poke-yoke, traceability (lot/torque/pull-force records), and acceptance criteria; support line bring-up and PPAP at suppliers.

- Continuous Improvement Benchmark recent connector systems, terminals, wire materials, and overmold/ potting methods; drive design-for-manufacture-and-serviceability, modularization, and standardization across product lines.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related engineering field.
- 3+ years of experience in harness development for electromechanical products, preferably consumer appliances.

- Strong knowledge of wire harness design best practices, including selection of wires, cables, connectors, and protection elements.
- Proficient in CAD tools for harness design (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, Zuken, SolidWorks Electrical or equivalent).
- Experienced in component selection, procurement, and supplier management processes.

- Familiarity with electromechanical integration: switches, sensors, motors, actuators.
- Sound analytical and troubleshooting abilities, with hands-on experience.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional team collaboration skills.

- Knowledge of regulatory standards (UL, IEC, RoHS, etc.) for consumer appliances.
- Self-driven, adaptable, and thriving in dynamic product development environments.
