What We're Looking For Taste is non-negotiable. You should have a strong instinct for what looks, sounds and feels culturally relevant.
You understand: Streetwear and skate culture Youth consumer behaviour Internet culture and meme language How brands build cultural relevance Creator ecosystems Social-native storytelling Why some content feels authentic while other content immediately feels like advertising You don't necessarily need to be a hardcore skater. But you should genuinely understand the culture we're operating in and be curious enough to immerse yourself in it.
You Should Also Be Comfortable With Ambiguity: figuring things out when there isn't a playbook Speed: moving from idea → execution without endless rounds of approvals Constraints: limited budgets, small teams and imperfect resources Ownership: seeing something through rather than saying “that's not my job"Experimentation: trying things that might not work Feedback: defending an idea when you believe in it, and killing it when the data or context says otherwise Being hands-on: shooting on a phone, editing a Reel, writing a caption, briefing a designer, coordinating a shoot, whatever the situation requires Commercial thinking: understanding that attention is useful, but attention that builds the brand and eventually drives business is better. The Kind of Person Who Will Thrive Here Has 2–4 years of hands-on social media experience, preferably with a consumer, lifestyle, streetwear, sports, fashion, culture or youth-focused brand Has built or significantly grown social accounts rather than simply managed posting Can show us actual work and explain why it worked Has robust opinions about brands, culture, design, music, fashion,
skateboarding or the internet Is naturally curious and constantly collecting references Can turn a vague thought like “let's do something around this” into an executable idea Doesn't wait for someone to tell them what to do next Has enough taste to know when “good enough” isn't actually good enough Is comfortable working with founders and a small team where priorities can change quickly.
What Would Make You Stand Out
You've worked with a streetwear, skate, sneaker, sports, fashion or youth culture brand You have a personal interest in skateboarding, street culture, music, fashion, photography, design or adjacent communities You've built an engaged community, not just a follower count You've created a format/series that became recognisable to the audience You understand creator-led content and UGCYou can shoot and edit content yourself You have strong copywriting instincts You can identify a cultural insight and turn it into a brand idea You have examples where you achieved something despite limited budget/resources.
What This Role
Is NOTThis isn't for someone who thinks social media = posting 5 times a week Needs a detailed brief for every piece of content Chases every trend without understanding the context Optimises purely for likes and followers Wants to outsource everything creative Thinks “Gen Z” is a content strategy Has no opinion on what good looks like Is uncomfortable with ambiguity or changing priorities. How We'll Evaluate You We're less interested in hearing that you're “passionate about social media.”Show us: What have you made? What did you learn? What would you do differently? And, can you make SSI culturally interesting? If you can combine taste + cultural understanding + creative thinking + execution speed + commercial instinct, we'd love to hear from you.
