Physical Education Teacher - Roles & Responsibilities

A Physical Education (PET) Teacher is responsible for promoting students’ physical fitness, health awareness, discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship through structured physical activities and sports programs.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Planning & Conducting PE Classes
- Plan and conduct age-appropriate physical education lessons.
- Teach basic physical exercises, games, sports skills, and fitness activities.
- Ensure students participate actively in daily physical activities.
- Prepare lesson plans aligned with school curriculum and objectives.

2. Sports Training & Coaching
- Train students in indoor and outdoor sports activities.
- Identify talented students and encourage participation in competitions.
- Coach school teams for inter-school, district, and state-level tournaments.
- Organize regular practice sessions and fitness drills.

3. Student Fitness & Health
- Monitor students’ physical fitness and overall well-being.
- Educate students on healthy lifestyle habits, nutrition, hygiene, and exercise.




- Conduct warm-up, stretching, and cool-down exercises safely.
- Encourage discipline, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.

4. Safety & Supervision
- Ensure safety of students during games and sports activities.
- Inspect playgrounds and sports equipment regularly.
- Provide first aid support during minor injuries or emergencies.
- Maintain proper discipline during PE periods and events.

5. Organizing Events & Competitions
- Plan and coordinate annual sports day and athletic meets.
- Organize house competitions, sports events, and physical fitness programs.
- Support school functions, drills, yoga sessions, and assemblies.
- Maintain records of student participation and achievements.

6. Communication & Coordination
- Coordinate with school management, teachers, and parents regarding student performance.
