Job Purpose

To ensure microbiological and chemical quality of packaged drinking water by conducting laboratory testing, monitoring hygiene and sanitation standards, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting food safety systems within the plant.

Key Responsibilities1. Microbiological Testing
- Perform microbiological analysis of:
- Raw water
- RO water
- Ozonated water
- Finished packaged water
- Environmental swabs
- Air quality samples
- Conduct tests for:
- Total Plate Count (TPC)
- Coliforms
- E. coli
- Yeast & mold
- Pathogens as required
- Prepare and sterilize culture media and reagents.
- Maintain aseptic laboratory practices.

2. Chemical & Physical Testing
- Conduct routine water quality tests such as:
- pH
- TDS
- Turbidity
- Hardness
- Residual ozone/chlorine
- Conductivity
- Verify water quality against BIS/FSSAI/internal specifications.

3. Sampling & Monitoring
- Collect water and environmental samples as per sampling plan.
- Ensure proper sample labeling, handling, and storage.
- Monitor hygiene conditions in:
- Filling area




- Packaging section
- Water treatment area
- Laboratory

4. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain laboratory records and test reports.
- Prepare Certificates of Analysis (COA).
- Record deviations, non-conformities, and corrective actions.
- Maintain calibration and maintenance records for lab equipment.
- Support audit documentation and traceability requirements.

5. Regulatory & Food Safety Compliance
- Ensure compliance with:
- BIS standards for packaged drinking water
- FSSAI regulations
- GMP & GHP practices
- HACCP / ISO 22000 / FSSC 22000 systems
- Participate in internal and external audits.

6. Equipment Handling
- Operate and maintain laboratory instruments such as:
- Incubators
- Autoclaves
- pH meters
- Spectrophotometers
- Colony counters
- Laminar airflow cabinets
- Ensure calibration and preventive maintenance schedules are followed.
