Roles & Responsibilities of Store Keeper

1. Material Management
- Receive, check, and record incoming materials, components, and consumables.
- Ensure proper storage to prevent damage, deterioration, or loss.
- Issue materials to production/maintenance departments as per requisition.
- Maintain accurate stock levels and initiate purchase requisitions when required.

2. Inventory Control
- Maintain minimum, maximum, and reorder levels of critical items.
- Conduct regular stock verification (daily, weekly, monthly, annual).
- Ensure FIFO/FEFO system is followed to reduce inventory obsolescence.
- Report stock discrepancies, shortages, or excess to management.

3. Documentation & Record Keeping
- Maintain GRN (Goods Receipt Note), MRN (Material Receipt Note), and Issue Slips.
- Update ERP/Manual register regularly with stock transactions.
- Ensure proper labelling, bin card, and codification system.
- Prepare periodic stock reports for audit and management review.

4. Compliance & Safety
- Ensure proper housekeeping and safety in the store.




- Follow company policies for material handling and storage.
- Ensure fire safety, PPE usage, and hazardous material compliance.
- Support internal/external audits (ISO, AS9100, IATF, etc.).

5. Coordination
- Liaise with purchase, production, quality, and accounts for smooth material flow.
- Coordinate with suppliers and transporters for timely delivery of materials.
- Provide material status updates to planning/production teams.

6. People & Process Management
- Supervise store assistants/helpers for material handling.
- Train store staff in stock management, ERP usage, and safety practices.
- Implement Lean/5S practices in stores for efficiency.
- Continuously improve storage and material flow processes.

Key Skills Required:
- Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Tally, etc.)
- Solid record-keeping & documentation skills
- Inventory control techniques (ABC analysis, VED, FIFO, JIT, etc.)
