Position: Machine Shop Supervisor

Job Summary

The Machine Shop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily machining operations supporting the manufacture of hydraulic cylinders, filter press components, and related assemblies.

Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate machining operations for hydraulic cylinder components (barrels, rods, pistons, end caps, glands) and filter press parts (plates, frames, manifolds, bases)
- Plan and assign work according to production schedules, assembly needs, and delivery commitments
- Ensure all machined components meet dimensional, surface finish, and pressure-rating requirements
- Oversee CNC and manual machining processes including turning, milling, drilling, boring, honing, and threading
- Verify correct setups, tooling, fixturing, and CNC programs prior to production runs
- Monitor machine performance, cycle times, and scrap rates; take corrective action as needed
- Coordinate with maintenance to ensure machine uptime, calibration, and preventive maintenance
- Enforce safety procedures, housekeeping standards,



and compliance with OSHA and company policies
- Train, mentor, and evaluate machinists, setters, and operators; support skill development and cross-training
- Work closely with engineering, quality, assembly, and testing teams to resolve machining and fitment issues
- Support first-article inspections, in-process checks, and final inspections for critical hydraulic components
- Ensure traceability, documentation, and compliance with quality standards (ISO or customer-specific)
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, and cost reduction

Required Qualifications
- Diploma or BE in Mechanical Engineering with 6-8 years of machining experience, preferably in hydraulics or heavy equipment manufacturing, and a minimum of 4 years of supervisory or lead experience in a machine shop setting.
